BiomassGameplay
The flood’s gameplay is unique and relies heavily on offensive expansion.
Upon beginning a match, the flood, doesn’t actually start with a home base, it instead has a dormant Proto-Gravemind that requires biomass to function, expand and evolve. The Proto-Gravemind would be able to spawn basic infection and combat forms that can gather, or rather infect, the local fauna of the map, or enemy infantry units, making combat forms [and gathering biomass in-the-process], thus emulating the feral stages of the Flood.
Once enough biomass, is gathered the Proto-Gravemind, can evolve into a Gravemind, which allows greater infection options of enemy units, vehicles, buildings and technology, emulating the greater intelligence of the coordinated stage. As well as this, the Flood can now manipulate and take over enemy AI via the logic plague.
To expand, the Flood could either form a forward colony, which can be upgraded to a hive; or attempt to overrun an opposing player’s base that would become an infected version of the original, the Flood would now have mediocre access to enemy spawning units and technology.
