I know many of us have experienced the same thing, but I have a pretty big problem with how disconnects are handled in this game. I have had to grind to get back to Champion in 1v1. Last night I got into the top 30, and things were going great. Then, two consecutive disconnects wiped out over a dozen games of progress (Games that I had clear advantages in btw). Not only that, but the game awards losses to BOTH players, and we’re not talking just standard losses… it hits you HARD!!! You lose about 60% of a rank for a disconnect that isn’t either players doing. We were both still connected to Xbox Live and still had the game open. Basically, the underlying software needs to do better at assessing the reason for the disconnect. If it can be determined that one players network was bad, then fine, assign the loss to them. But the strong majority of cases, it’s always been glitches and sync problems with the code itself. These are relatively simple checks to make in the code during a match. I’m a software engineer, and I know this can be done with minimal effort. YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THOSE GAMES GET DISCARDED!!! They can’t count as losses or wins.
I should also note that, for me at least, I didn’t experience this problem very frequently until the May 5 patch was released, but I know this will vary from player to player.
A plug pull is the same as a standard disconnect. Network outage or packet loss is so severe over a period of time causing a network disconnect. If you make it so that disconnects don’t cause CSR loss, all anyone will do when they are losing is pull the plug and get a free loss essentially.
That’s exactly what I mean though. The game can easily identify which side the packet loss is coming from and assign the loss to that player. I take big offence to lazy coding that just assigns losses to both players. I have seen this in plenty of other games. If rage-quitters pull the ethernet cable from their Xbox, tons of other games have figured out how to penalize that player without punishing the remaining player.
The noteworthy thing is that neither player ACTUALLY disconnected. We were both still up and running on Xbox live.
I have never got a loss when someone else disconnects.

Chances are the player is simply resigning and not disconnecting. Are you telling me you have never seen the “Game Out of Sync” error? That error always results in losses for both parties.

Guess I am lucky. This doesn’t prove that pulling the cord gives both people losses though. Sounds like a game issue and not connection based. Hard to say because it is not happening to me. This really sucks though and I hope it gets resolved.
I don’t think you should get penalized more for resigning than losing. This has been a problem since season 1.
