How to get "Tank Beats Everything" Achievement?

I swear I’ve tried everything. I was on legendary, no skulls, didn’t get out once, didn’t die, didn’t reset back to checkpoint I even managed to do a full run of “The Package” without getting hit in the tank once! but even though I cleared every enemy and slammed the scorpion into the gates to ONI sword base too many times to count the achievement won’t work. I’ve also tried completing the whole mission just in case even though I’ve hear it’s supposed to trigger at the gate. Am I being stupid or is it bugged?

This answer will probably annoy you, but I would be willing to bet that you have taken a hit or two without realizing it each time you’ve attempted it. A grunt with a plasma pistol could have taken a potshot that you would never notice unless you were looking for it, or you blew up a ghost that ran too close to you and a piece of the ghost hit your tank, causing you to take a minuscule amount of damage. It’s really tough to go through the entire section completely unscathed. I haven’t tried the achievement yet, but it sounds like getting it comes down to 90% skill and 10% dumb luck that you hit the enemy spawn points just right.

I will also say that it’s entirely possible the MCC is on the fritz… wouldn’t be the first time lol.

Damn I got this in a co-op legendary speedrun and the tank was basically on fire wtf?!? Yeah the achievement has to be glitched in one form or another. I have a whole list of achievements that I know I’ve met the requirements or heard the dialogue for and still haven’t unlocked.

Looks like I’ll figure out how to make a bug report then.

I believe the vehicle can take damage, just doesn’t have to get destroyed from what I remember.

Sounds like a glitch. The tank can be absolutely falling apart, as long as it’s still driveable. I got the achievement on my legendary speed run and I most certainly took some hits

yeah it’s glitched. done this several times

MCC glitches are wonky, sometimes you just have to wait for the achievement to pop.

I don’t understand it. I blew up twice in the level, then it gives me the achievement lol

It’s probably glitched, MCC has been weird lately, you can be falling apart with little to no health left and as long as it lives to the gate and banshees don’t destroy it you should get the achievement

It’s probably a glitch, when I got the achievement before my tank was like Ready to explode,

As others are saying, achievement registry in the MCC is a bit of a joke. I’ve been chasing “They’ve Always Been Faster,” for aboht a week now, having completed Sword Base five or six times all on foot. The achievement’s never popped.

I understand that 343’s priority is currently on adding more cool new content to MCC, but once Season 4 is out or something they really need to go over the whole thing with a fine toothed comb and get all the wonkiness ironed out.

Was curious as to which achievement you were talking about so I looked it up on True Achievements and it says that it is for winter contingency not sword base. Also has to be on normal difficulty or higher. Guide says “All you have to do is make it to the last section of the second mission.” but I find that a bit misleading and confusing.

EDIT: Link to solution.

@BIGB EC, thanks so much for looking into that for me! I’d unlocked it on Vanilla Reach so long ago I must’ve forgotten the details. Yeah, the wording definitely threw me off on the description.

Seriously though, major cred for stepping up and helping another player out with an issue like this. It’s a breath of fresh air when most folks around here just seem obsessed with arguing and “Get good scrub,” rhetoric. Thanks again!

You’re welcome. There are so many Master chief collection achievements its hard to keep track of them all so when someone has a hard time unlocking one I usually look it up and try to help.

It’s a glitch certain achievements are just wonky like for me the All According To Plan achievement didn’t pop for me for a while did it like 20+ times before it popped

To anyone still wondering I got support and they said to do this (It made the achievement work for me) Hope this helps.
