How to get maps considered for Matchmaking?

So how is 343 going about to select which maps are good for the Forge Test Matchmaking playlist?

I’d like to get my map(s) noticed, but I’m not sure how to get word out.

Well, you have to get your maps noticed by a member of the Community Cartographers. They are the tether between us and 343i as far as Forge goes.

Now, there are many ways you can achieve this. Short story: Test and Advertise your maps. Where you advertise is up to you, but there are many great forging communities that have members of the Community Cartographers in them. You have ForgeHub, Reaching Perfection, and XForgery just to name a few. Join forums, make threads, post in others, join map tests, make some new friends, and use the testing and critique to further your maps and hone your skills to more easily create maps worth going into matchmaking. It’s a fun experience if I do say so myself.

If you do all of that, there is no way you won’t at least be noticed by several of the Community Cartographers. I say go for it.

I get the feeling… is there a ninja behind me?

Edit: sigh of relief

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve noticed ForgeHub before. It seems I’d have to get some kind of capture card to best show off my map. Kind of bothersome that there isn’t any kind of file share available on Waypoint at all to help like there was for both Halo 3 and Reach.

It is quite inconvenient, but if you know where to look then there are other means of getting direct screenshots.

I was able to get screenshots of my remake without a capture card:
The Pit - Sword Exterior

Look at me, shamelessly advertising.

We check Waypoint for maps as well. Post them in the “community creations” forum but do your due diligence and post a thorough description of your map and how it’s unique, balanced, etc…

> … join map tests, make some new friends…

This. The forging community is actually quite a small world really. Play enough custom lobbies and eventually you’ll get noticed. The forge community are (overall) a helpfull bunch and the CCs are pretty cool, down to earth guys.
