I have made a tutorial on how to get inside the Halo 5 Hammer Storm update’s Drop Pod. It’s easy to do and works out… interestingly. Check it out for yourself! https://youtu.be/iTPpR77xkRY
Yes it is a glitch and it is buggy, but so is vehicle welding. This is the chance for the community to take this one step further. Can we make this dream and this bug more of a reality in how we start this? If we script it a certain way, it might be possible. Who know. Potentially in the future, maybe we can use scripting to weld objects together. We’ll have to see what 343 does.
I want to thank the person who helped me test this and volunteered to be squished into a drop pod over and over again, Fred 104 SII. He’s awesome.

That’s what I want. The whole ODST experience, including briefing on the monitors. An ODST can dream, right? I made more about that here: https://goo.gl/Af4m2Q

Maybe. I think the only way to safely do it however, is to script it to descend softer. unfortunately, that is the only way I foresee it happening. But that is why I am asking you guys! The community should have some answers.
UPDATE: One of my viewers is making a scripted version of this already which makes me excited. It may take a while for another update, but there is still a whole lot of potential with this.

It could be! I think the potential for this is too grand to pass up! Thank you for being a part of this thread and supporting this cause (“the ODST’s Without a Pod” :P).
THIS is what I want. An ODST drop pod we can get in. It’s a mod for Halo 3 but the premise still stands. That and a drop pod we can spawn in. The idea is simple, and the programming would take a bit but with the way they made Halo 5, there is no end to the possibilities they could give/have.
The spawning one would be similar to the running start spawn however you are initially in a drop pod and drop down into the playing field. With this, you could set the spawn point at the location you want it to land and make a trail for how high up you want it to start (there would be a non world max but a figure max). Then they would start from their trail’s starting point and land where designated. Ones that are enterable would be just that. You enter them, hold <action> to close the door, and when the door is closed, you wait for drop. If you entered on accident, you use <action> to get out, just not while looking at the door control. These aren’t really the cream of the crop mechanics from me, but it’s a start.
I feel like the drop pod was a huge swing and a miss from 343. Not only does a spartan not fit inside it, which is insane, but it doesn’t “stick” into the ground like the weapon pods of Halo 3. Plus it doesn’t really feel very heavy like a drop pod should. Sure it’s good for visual purposes, but why limit the possibilities?

I don’t think it was a hit and miss, but I must agree it is smaller than I would like and is lighter looking. I guess it is going for a chunkier look? I miss the angular style if I am going to be honest. It felt like a real drop pod. But these ones aren’t terrible. If they see the community outcry for something better, maybe they will find room to add it in. Here’s to hoping! Also, thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. It doesn’t make sense that they would limit possibilities but we are going in the right direction. Updating forge is something new and never done before and I am pretty happy that they decided to continue to support it.

Halo 3’s sandbox would like a word with you. But seriously I am glad that they are updating it cuz I didn’t think they would. There’s quite a few issues that need to be attended to before I start forging hardcore.

Yea… like… you know… random reset or rotation and/or the invisible walls not working.
