It has nothing to do with the legendary edition; that was the traditional red/orange flames.
Blue flames were originally for Bungie employees, yes, but shortly before they handed control of Halo over to 343i, they gave out the blue flames to everyone who was present for their final Bungie Day celebration with Halo (which ended up lasting almost a month between the Bungie/Net App and their homepage). Anyone who didn’t claim their flames during that time is out of luck as 343i has stated they cannot and will not re-issue them.
You needed to be part of Bungie day. I don’t think there is anyway to get it now
You need a special code in the legendary edition, or special permission from Bungie.
As of now, it’s unobtainable.

The blue flames were for Bungie employees and then later made available to people with the Bungie app.
The orange flames were for purchasers of the Legendary edition of the game.
Neither can be obtained now.

Sadly you can’t get it anymore. You got it by using the Bungie App on Bungie Day a few years ago.

You had to create a Bungie.net account, link your GT to it and press a button that said “Get my flames” or something related to that before Bungie Day of 2011, which was 7/7/11.
So in other words, it’s unobtainable now.
The irony in the blue flames ordeal, Bungie only made it accesable to people with an iPhone. An Apple product, I took that as an “F.U. Microsoft”
With that being said, I’m the proud owner of both the Legendary, & the Eternal flames. Not to mention my AWESOME “HALO” nameplate.
the yellow flames are for the legendary game disc, the blue flames was for the employees then they released it on bungie day, and then bungie sold all the rights of halo to 343i so no they are not obtainable any longer

Bungie really seemed to be sticking it to Microsoft near the end. Blue flames for iOS users only, giving away recon armor for free…lol. I love Bungie.

Which is more than likely a scam to begin with; once they have your money, they give you a code that’s already been redeemed.
