How to get better at Halo Wars 1 or 2?

Is it better to get better at halo wars by learning alone to play against people in 1v1, or is it better to play with a good knowledgeable partner on your side to get better. This is my question.

It’s a personal preference, really.

I think 1s is good because it teaches you to be independent. You can’t expect to play un-arranged 2v2 or 3v3 and get good allies every time. 1s should also drill build orders into your head, which is pretty important.

Learning from someone is really good too. I learned a good amount of what I know from guys like Diablo Soul who help out newer players. They can let you in on stuff that takes a while to figure out, and they can teach you about pretty much anything.

Assuming you aren’t brand new to Halo Wars, start out in 1v1. Then, ask someone for help if you still want it. There are threads all over where people offer help, and if you message them, they’re probably going to show you a thing or two.

This comes from a guy who only started to actually play this game 3 months ago. It’s what helped me best, and there’s still more to learn.

Play standart 3v3 and look how other guys play and with time you would play better. Look at the guys who build 3-4 hogs and capture the base with them in the beggining, they re good. P.S. minus of this, that u will spoil some games to some poor guys, I hope I wouldnt be one of them=) plus - u would have much more xp in 3v3 than in boring 1v1.

What are you smoking? For every decent player (35+ ts party teams) in ua 3s there are 500+ bad ones. Even good players in a ua game can’t do what they would do in an actual game due to lack of coordination, and the idiot who won’t hop out of the reactor. On the rare occasion that I play ua (usually 2s) I go into the game with the idea that I’m going to have to 1v2, and I can’t count on my tm for anything. In 3s it’s even worse as any type of push is doomed to failure if your teammates aren’t cooperating. You can’t push early because you can’t count on your teammates to capitalize on any advantage you give them.

In short, you don’t learn anything good from ua, play it if you like but don’t use it as a teaching tool. Get somebody to teach you, watch youtube vids on whatever playlist you want to improve on, etc. Honestly 1s will force you to learn good unit micro if you want a large amount of success in the playlist, however many of the strats and ideas don’t translate as well to 2s/3s. Example, turrets are not only viable in 1s they are sometimes outright necessary, 2s/3s turrets are worthless. Certain units that are viable in 1s situations (hunters, rpg marines, flamethrowers) are hardly ever viable let alone a good idea in 2s/3s.

If you can get anyone to play 2s/3s with, especially if it’s someone decent who can teach you go 2s/3s assuming you want to learn more than 1s. If you only want to learn 1s or can’t find anyone, play 1s.

OP, the first step is choosing a leader to play as. You’ll honestly get a lot better a lot faster if you focus on one leader.
Play around randomly, and then choose once you’ve made up your mind. There are plenty of guides/videos on the internet, and honestly if you look these up and practice, practice, practice, it’ll be second nature, and you’ll be outplaying so many people and not even breaking a sweat.
If you’d like, I could teach you about the Arbiter in 2v2/3v3. 1v1 isn’t really my forte.
