How do you get better at battle rifle skills?
Assassinations?
Vehicle control?
These are just some of the skills that represent everything, my question is: How do you get better at everything?
I would say, if you wanted to practice most of these skills, you should play turkey bowl(it’s on my file share, so you can download it and play some customs with friends).
As for the vehicle parts, I really can’t say.
In terms of the BR, lowering your sensitivity could make a big difference. The ideal sens is 3-5, but if you are struggling to win BR fights a 2 or even a 1 could be a better option. Playing on a low sensitivity is something I would recommend to all newer players, particularly on Halo 4 as there are more longer/ mid range battles than short because of the larger maps.
Getting better at aiming will only come with more practice, and getting better at predicting other players will only come with experience. Everything else can be learned by watching really good players play and taking mental notes of how they play. I paid attention to where they go, what weapons they used, who they shot at (target management), etc.

Practice, obviously. You cannot watch something and expect to get better. Nor does getting better happen overnight.

Actually watching other people allows you to pick up certain skills. Watching players on Youtube and Twitch really does help and I would recommend it if anybody still actually streams Halo 4 on twitch. Obviously you would need to put these skills into practice.

No one particularly good streams h4 these days.
In all honesty, I’ve noticed most people just have natural talents in the game that they tend to further practice and become better. By practicing even with just ur talents, you could potentially become better overall just through understanding mechanics of the things you do. Another thing I’ve noticed is by dropping and playing another game even for a short while tends to teach you new tactics and new mechanics to exploit.
But either way, for example, I am extremely talented at piloting / vehicle control, map navigation, sneaking, and sniping (true sniping). By learning how to further these, I have become better with other weapons and learning how to exploit my talents to make myself better than the other person shooting back at me lol.

Always try new things. Never let them expect what’s coming. Don’t be afraid of weakness - learn how to overcome it by practice.
Earn all weapons commendations. You should be able to scavenge any weapon, even the ones you hate, and be able to at least rough up any challenger - power weapon or not.
If you play infinity, use AA’s to gain first strike advantage. My favorite is hologram. It works every damn time…
For vehicles… just drive! You’ll be Steve McQueen in no time.
Find someone with a better shot than you. Then play against them in the octagon, first to 1000 kills. A few hours of constant BR battles will improve your shot.
Go over your game plays in theater and pick apart every mistake you made. Every time you die, ask yourself why you died. Then try to find how you could have played that situation better.
Over time you will develop a skill for finding the right play and it will come to you intuitively.

You’d be surprised. When I first played this game in april, I learned to use a BR very fast. And this was before the update.
Play a lot I guess. Try to see what movements you do, try to view time pass by as you play.

Apart from the above, you could just play h3 or reach. If you get even a little better in these games, h4 will become laughably easy, annoying repeating the same ol’ tune, but it’s the truth.
You need to play with some guys that are good. I was terrible at aiming the sniper and other things but my friend wouldn’t play anything else but snipers in H3 and I learned from him and got good at it to the point I was able to beat him.
I never played swat until Halo 4. My friends got my into to it and I have been pretty good at it, I got my first perfect in SWAT. You learn things as time go one like grenade bouncing, how to Ninja, ect.

Foundations first.
Having a good shot will only get you so far. A good BR shot comes from experience and practice. Focus on timing your shots and landing them instead of just firing as fast you can and panicking. Know when your at a disadvantage and when to back off, they get the first shots on you, they have 2 teammates shooting you, etc.
Improve your strafe. Make it harder for your opponent to hit you. Watch the killcams and your opponents POV in theater to see what your strafe looks from their POV. Then improve on it from there. Don’t be predictable.
Map awareness. It is crucial to place yourself on the map where you can be most helpful to your team. Watch where your teammates are and eventually you’ll get a understanding of where your opponents will be based off of your teammates location. Don’t overextend on your push. Staying alive in most situations is MUCH more helpful for you and your team. Pick your fights wisely and move around the map with stealth to get the drop on people.
Picking your fights. Don’t tunnel-vision. Don’t get thirsty for kills and just chase aggressively and tunnel vision on that target. Watch your surroundings. Chasing will get you killed most of the time.
Watch your angles. Know where your opponents can see you and where you and your teammates can see them. Use angles to your advantage with walls, ramps, boxes, pillars, etc. Take cover and be annoying and unpredictable with your shots.
Communication is ABSOLUTELY vital. Call-outs are a must so get to know your map call-outs and build some chemistry with your teammates.
As time goes on you will get better at things like grenade bouncing/placement, jumps on the map, flanks, etc.
Absolutely watch your replays and dissect your movements, mistakes, and overall style. Be critical and work on where you can improve your game.
Assassinations are great to watch but forget about them. It is much more beneficial to get beatdowns and save time and possibly your life.
Vehicle control comes with vehicle intelligence. Everybody always loves to just drive straight into enemy territory and be aggressive. Be smart with them! The fact is that vehicles are fragile in this game so take cover and watch where you are on the map. If you want vehicle control you also have to lockdown the power weapons on the map, Splasers, rockets, railguns, etc.
I know this is a lot of information but honing these once at a time will dramatically increase your skill in the game. Best of luck.
Well the suppressor is a tricky gun but I’m glad your trying to get better with it.
With the suppressor you need to realize that it has low aim assist and slow projectiles. These two traits make it quite hard to use. It is doable however.
It is necessary that you lead your target ever so slightly; have 2/3 of your reticule trained on his body and 1/3 on the direction he is moving. Also strafe with your target. It’s so much easier to aim this way. Don’t jerk your right thumb stick in an attempt to correct your aim, this will throw your aim off even more. By shadowing an enemies strafe you suddenly have an effective method of aiming while simultaneously making yourself harder to hit.
And don’t get me wrong you still use the right thumb stick to help aim, just be very gentile with it while firing and use it only for minor aim corrections. you want your strafe to do the bulk of the aiming.
And as always with the suppressor remember wall hugging and sharp corners are your best friends.
The suppressor is not an easy gun at all to use but if you are one of the few players like myself who took the time to learn the ins and outs of it, you will greatly enjoy its ultra fast kill time.
There’s 3 things you need to know about the BR:
1- Position-
You want to keep your enemy’s dot right around between your dot, and the edge of the radar. That is the range BRs and Carbines will dominate in.
If you are fighting an AR or any automatic weapon, back up. Distance is your friend against them. If you are fighting a DMR or LR, move in while taking cover. Distance is not your friend against them.
2- Strafing-
You will need to learn to strafe in an unpredictable way to try to throw your enemy’s aim off long enough for you to kill him. Sometimes, they may get it right and kill you. Other times, they won’t, and you’ll kill them.
3- Aiming-
When aiming, strafe with the target. Always aim slightly below the chin as the BR’s recoil can throw a bullet or 2 off the target.
For general play:
Don’t Overextend.
What I mean by is this scenario here.. If you go too far without backup, you can easily get killed by a huge pack, just like the Soldier, and the unfortunate Medic, had endured in that video.
Pay attention to your Motion Tracker/Radar
There are 4 circles inside that radar: The innermost is melee. Punch them, Stab them with a sword, or Smash them with a Gravity Hammer here. Boltshots work here too.
The one past that is Close range weapons. Suppressors, Assault Rifles and Storm Rifles will not have a problem here. Shotguns will kill better here as well.
Past that is the medium range circle. BRs and CCs will dominate.
Finally, the last one before the edge is the long range weapons. DMRs and LRs will dominate here.
Get those red dots into the range where your weapon will work best will increase your chances of success. If that’s not possible, call for back up, pull out the gun best for it, or ignore them. Don’t get yourself in a fight you do NOT have the advantage for.
Get the Power Weapons and Power Ups
Too often I keep seeing enemy teams that flat out ignore key power weapons or power ups, and would ultimately lead to their defeat. Hell, on some maps, not securing the Overshield can lead to a big defeat simply because 1 guy is capable of dealing enough damage to wipe out power formations simply because he wouldn’t die.
They are there for a reason: To give you a huge advantage. Don’t let the enemy have them at all costs!
For vehicle combat:
Don’t over-extend.
What that means is that you do not want to run too far ahead from your team and leave you vulnerable to Plasma Pistols stun-locking you to where you will get boarded or destroyed. You are not invincible. You just have a big gun with an even bigger body.
Don’t Over-Commit:
If the warthog driver you are gunning for is acting like a total moron over-extending into enemy territory, bail. Don’t give the enemy team a double kill. It could be cruel, but it’s not worth dying over a lesson he should learn. Half of being good at Slayer is not dying to stupid things.
Assasinations: I’d stick to objectives in FFA or Slayer matches with no radar. That’s how I got mine. Other than that, stick to beatdowns. They can be a huge waste of time and can leave you open to bum baits.
Finally: Practice.
Watch your experiences in Theater mode. Watch for YouTube guides done by other Halo players on how you can get better by learning new ways around the maps, and other tricks. See what you do and how you can take advantage of the game to give you the edge to take down other players.
…And that’s all I can say. No one is an instant pro, and even pros learn something new everyday. Keep at it and you can deal with just about everything thrown at you.
