PC player here, been using controller since day 1. Decided I’d try the game on KBM but i for the life of me cannot do good at all. Any pointers?
Game feels off compared to MCC
I use a lower sensitivity. It doesn’t have to be very high in this game, it’s not a twitch shooter. It rewards sustained accurate fire, than to snapping for a fast TTK. I also have mouse acceleration off.
Maybe I’m just rusty at PC shooters. I’ve played Halo for 20 years on controller so it could just take some time getting used to it on KBM I suppose
Definitely lower your sens.
i wish there was better advice to give you other than “lower sens”, but controller aim feels so inconsistent for me as well even with the aim assist. some ranked games i go 40+ in kills and others i go 9. i play on low sens and have altered the deadzones. it’s odd, considering how easily others seem to hit their shots.
Other than the lower sensitivity advice, I also suggest spending some time doing some Weapon Drills to help get a feel for whatever settings you choose and to adjust when appropriate. The feature gets very little mentioning and appreciation for how it can help with getting a feel for aiming and transitioning in particular.
I turn sense down to 1.0 and use acceleration. Also, try turning off steering assist, maintain sprint, auto clamber, and step jump. thank me later!

Field of View. Adjust it to your benefit. No matter what game you play on what platform, adjusting this to suit your specs and for comfort is the no.1 thing which will lead to better gameplay experience. Don’t ever use the default 70~78. It’s actually trash.

Pick a single sensitivity and practice. Don’t change your sensitivity all wily nily, pick on which you feel is comfortable off the bat and keep practicing on it.
Also all the low sense suggestions are correct:
There is a certain way MKB Shooters play, and that is to use your Elbow to “look” and use your Wrist to adjust aim. If you are high sense, your wrist will cry for mercy as you keep using your wrist to both Look and Adjust your aim because Elbowing it will cause your aim to fly all over the place.
It’s no secret that AA in Infinite is wonky and inconsistent atm. I’ve tried it myself and it’s actual trash.
Everyone is saying it, but I’ve noticed that most PC players are playing on a mad high sensitivity compared to what I use on controller. I play on a 2.5 on controller and am 1600 Onyx.
I’ve been playing super low sensitivity, like I’m talking two of my settings (can’t recall the names are on 0.1 or 0.2). I also use mouse acceleration which I know loads of people hate, but with these settings I’ve been aiming only slightly worse than I do on controller and I only have about 10 hours of experience on kbm. I imagine an experienced player with my settings could absolutely tear it up. People just don’t want to play the game slower. Halo isn’t about 180 snaps, it’s about beating your opponent with superior positioning. I’m in Diamond 1 now on kbm and admittedly I can’t even consistently pick up weapons or the flag as my key control is still off. It’s wild to think I can keep up somehow.
Yeah I play on sens 2 with 5 acceleration on my controller and can do either super good or super bad depending on the matchmaking gods.
Now playing KBM I run a 1.5 sens and it seems okay but I’m definitely doing very poorly. Been playing a lot of bots to practice and I’m starting to think I’m just not good at this game on KBM
You need a huge mouse mat, low DPI in your mouse settings (100-400), and a mouse with plenty of buttons so you can do more stuff with your right hand. Turn with your whole arm, aim with your wrist.
Make sure your mouse can do 1000Hz polling rate for 1ms input delay. Get yourself a mouse mat that covers half your desk. Use a pro sensitivity that results in about 13.5 inches mouse movement for a 360 degree turn. Turn off mouse acceleration. Make sure your screen resolution, monitor refresh rate, in-game FPS and FOV stay consistent. Don’t try to force yourself to be fast. Tell yourself that you’re going to be accurate and hit your target. Speed comes over time. Practice for a few months and things should start to come together.
being good at KM in halo means using half your body to aim with your mouse instead of your thumb. my advice is dont wrist aim.
What’s your fps??…………;7)))?);:6)?((3:
Do you have a configurable mouse? Find a good balance of higher DPI and lower in game sensitivity. The combination allows for lower reliance on pixel movements and allows for more precision and smoother movements.
Tracking is a tad difficult in this title, I dunno how you usually aim, but try focusing on body shots rather than the head to at least get the feel for aiming a bit better.
Oh and disable mouse acceleration in your PC settings. Look up a tutorial on how to do this. It makes sure that your mouse movements are consistent and aren’t thrown off if you move your mouse too fast.
Everyone keeps saying change the sensitivity or get some special hardware, but it’s much easier (and more satisfying) than that, it’s called practice.
Go into the Training area and try shooting the targets with ONLY headshots. Use a Pistol, BR, Sniper, or whatever you need to work on. This isn’t going to happen over night either, so you will need to work on it until either the Mouse&Key or the Controller feels right for you. And don’t cheat yourself, be honest with your progress and practice more if necessary.
You will learn to remain calm and slowly trace the enemy with your reticle or scope, leading off is necessary to allow the bullets to hit correctly depending on the targets direction of movement and speed.
Honestly I play on the highest sensitivity and and aim assist off. That for some reasons works for me
I do think that lower FOV can sometimes help with making targets appear bigger, which helps with tracking/targeting, I’d personally wouldn’t go super low though as you say, I prefer 90 as a middleground.
Also yes one sensitivity is the best, preferably a low one because tracking targets is the most important rather than hitting flick shots, unless you’re exclusively playing swat/snipers.
It’s no secret that AA in Infinite is wonky and inconsistent atm. I’ve tried it myself and it’s actual trash.
Aiming in general on controller is jank sometimes. I can track people in MCC outside of aim assist range just fine but in Infinite my aim is sometimes randomly all over the place with some matches my aim constantly overshooting.
learn to set the sensativity to a level you feel comfortable at, get your muscle memory on your hands use to each button you have on your mouse. been playing halo on pc since halo ce pc… i try to keep my controls as close as possible to halo 2 pc as possible…
Turn the games sensitivity to the lowest value and set your mouse to high dpi in the hardware software that comes with your mouse
