See, tips are hard to give in a message, but here goes…
BASIC:
-I recommend you use custom sensitivity to figure out what works for you, to get to the custom sensitivity menu, just click the first sensitivity and a new menu will open.
-For aim, I recommend playing the gametype “Octagon” and on an “RTSN Octagon” map. Make the game open to all for 2-3 players, and wait for people to join. This’ll help with pistol and sniper aim, although you can change the weapon combo anytime you’d like. I even recommend you try using an “Aquagon” map to learn to stabilize your aim in low gravity.
-Play a lot of quick play. Don’t play ranked modes until you can peek at 40%+ accuracy. Quick play is designed for new players to learn rotations and map movement. I use it as a warmup playlist, which indeed it is.
-It is most important that you keep your pistol out at all times. No ARs, no Boltshots, no Carbines, no Suppressors, no Storm Rifles no Hydras, no Rockets; nothing cheap. Yes, I said no rockets. I will explain in the Intermediate section. If you want to get better, these weapons will not help you.
-Don’t use cheap grenades. (ec. Splinters or Sticky) These will not help you improve.
INTERMEDIATE:
-Always rush for sniper, you can get more kills with it. Sniper has up to 12 shots, which has the potential to be 12 kills if you’re a good marksman. While on the other hand, the rocket launcher will get you a maximum of 4 kills.
-Start watching Halo YouTubers. I recommend “Proximitty Cx.” and observe his playstyle. Observe his movements and smooth shots. Observe how he uses cover to his advantage. Most importantly, observe his strafe.
-Turn toggle crouch off. See how it feels and play with it off. In gunfights, it is easier to keep it off so you can make it a bit harder for your opponent to hit you.
-Turn auto stabilize off. Imagine scoping mid-air, trying to hit your opponent crossmap. But you end up being lasered because you’re hovering in the air for too long. Turning auto stabilize off gives you less time in the air, but more time to bounce back up and take your kill.
-Start trying out different strafes. Move back in fourth in a tight rotation, jump, thrust, whatever works for you.
-Play Octagon with your developing strafe. Even play more Aquagon with your strafe to test all positions. Instead of pistols, try BRs or DMRs.
-Start playing ranked modes. Start getting friends into your games with you.
-Go into custom games. Learn the spawns, call-outs, and weapon locations of each basic map. Take your friends with you. Don’t forget to learn the quickest way to get to the power up on your map.
-Watch the HCS reruns. Observe the teamwork involved and how the members back each other up.
-Learn different jumps and how they are performed.
-Use weapon skins consistently. Don’t keep changing them.
EXPERT:
-Start to perfect your strafe. Perfecting your strafe, jumps, aim, and movement is the key to winning.
-Start using quick play as a warm up playlist. Get serious about ranked. Don’t take it lightly.
-Start competing in open ladders and brackets on ESL. Grab your friends and pull a team together.
-COMMUNICATE. If you are playing Slayer or Team Arena without your friends, either go to game chat or start a party and invite your teammates. Communication and knowing your call-outs is key to pinging enemies to teammates so they can track, or hunting down your opponents via your teammates call-out.
-Start learning how to drain power-ups. This basically means that once you grab the power-up, you die right away as you couldn’t afford to let the other team take it. Also learn how to knock Overshield off an opponent. The green gun, (aka Plasma Pistol) will knock the full shield off your opponent.
-Learn the quick call-outs for weapons and power-ups. (Shotty, snipes, AR, BR, dimmer, sword, green gun, rocks, rails, scatty, splaser, beam, caster, frag) and for power-ups: (Ovi, Invis)
-Maintain one armor. Don’t keep changing it. The forearms need to stay consistent.
-Maintain one emblem, it represents you.
-Keep your head high. Halo 5 is a nightmare to rank in.How do I know all this? My name is Knightess, and I play for the Phoenix Competitive team. I’ve been playing Halo 5 since a month after its release. I played Halo 4, Reach, and Halo 5. I also currently play MCC. I’m always available if you need help, just shoot me a message on Waypoint or XBL. I’m always open to play as well, please just let me know.
Have a nice day, I hope you found this helpful.
