I’m sure I speak for 100% of the ACTUAL hard core Halo community when I say, we need a Rants only forum BAD.
I’m sick of coming to the forums wanting to see things like “I found a new Easter Egg on shatter”, “Halo 4 leads me to believe the flood will return”, “My top 10 favorite things about Halo 4”, “A few helpful tips for people struggling with the lightrifle”, “My theory on the precursors”, and “Halo 4 mission 4 secret area!” kinds of threads… Positive threads!
Now I don’t want to hear “Haha there are no positive H4 threads! Don’t fool yourself” Because that’s not the truth, those good threads just get outnumbered by useless posts.
I’ve seen countless online forums with Rant forums. I used to be really big into RuneScape, at a time I was the top 50th player in the world, and #1 in Ranged (thats pretty big) But my point is, RuneScape had a Rants forum. And the rants forum was the MOST posted on forum section, and although I’m sure this was embarrassing to the company over the game, it pleased the players! The other threads where not flooded with rants, moans, and -Yoinks!-. People had their voices heard, and people still had fun on the other side of the forums.
There’s really no reason to oppose this idea, it would put all these rants into a separate section, it would help 343i too. They could sift through the rants and see what exactly people are raging over, while WE the happy players, can discuss our favorite game.
It used to be like that before Halo 4 released. Now? It’s just a kiddie version of the Bungie.net Reach forums sans the more extreme flaming and Halo 3 stat trolling.
> maybe they shouldnt have shipped a half finished peice of Yoink! that shoud never have had the name halo put on it?
Its not half finished. Campaign 100%
Spartan Ops is continuous. Keeping the game alive longer.
And all multiplayer games need patches and fixes.
And I don’t see why people -Yoink- and moan saying “Oh Halo is only in the name, not the game”
Oh really? I see the chief, I see cortana, I see the covies, I see the battle rifle, I see the Halo Sniper rifle, I see…well -Yoink- a lot of guns from past halo games…
We’re still playing as spartans… There’s forge, theater…
I just don’t get it, you same people who -Yoink- saying Halo is changing too much, are the same dweebs who -Yoink- “Oh well CoD never changes, its the same game they released 4 years ago”

This whole thing reminds me of a saying which is pretty ironic seeing how I heard it from a COD game. “The more things change the more things stay the same.”

You don’t get the point from the people who loved Halo CE, 2 or 3 because there are a lot of people giving valid reasons why previous Halo games were better.
I like previous Halo games more than Halo 4 too, but I have my reasons too. and you could say CoD doesn’t change, but what Activision and Treyarch are truly doing is staying true to their fans who love the series. there actually are changes, and people just like that style of gameplay so they don’t change it too much, which is a good thing to keep your fanbase.

No no, the people ignore all of the issues from CE and H2. The glitches, the indestructible vehicles, the modders. Yeah they were all great games, but a big percentage of why people look back and say… “I liked H2 better then this -Yoink-” is NOSTALGIA. Halo 4 is obviously working for a lot of people, considering it got best xbox 360 game of the year. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Reach kid, I played the old games. But just because you can sprint now and there’s a few more guns an abilities that change a 10+ year old game, doesn’t mean the worlds over and you have to cry about it.

I certainly hope that if i complain (constructively) it’s not being passed off as complaints. Surely but slowly 343 is fixing things but there is much work to be done.
The main argument for CE/2 would be that despite the issues, the games were perfect and competitive (depending on who you ask, this will either be CE or Halo 2; never both.), therefore they were better Halo games without gimmicks like Sprint or game-breaking AAs. Oh and 2 had ranking.
You did leave out SMG starts for Halo 2 though; something most seem to forget about when praising Halo 2 for days :P.
