How to fix Splinters.

So as for their state in the sandbox today, splinters are free get out of situation nades. Are you 1 shot from poor positioning, just whip around and smack em with a splinter. You can see why this was taking out of the HCS. However I think they have there place as area denial nades. Here are fixes that I thought of.

A. Increase the detonation time.
This would solidify its place in the sandbox as area denial, and strip its power as an instakill asset, unless you mindlessly walk into it.

Or

B. Make the spread wider and halve the damage.
Remove hitmarkers from stickies and frags. Once again, area denial. This makes the trade off of damage for player knowledge.

Just a few ideas, not sure if they’ll fail completely if theyre ever tested out.

I always thought splinter grenades should be more of a pure defensive grenade then offense. Make it so the splinter grenades linger longer after they explode BUT they ONLY affect the Spartans shields and It knocks you out of sprint (or any Spartan ability too maybe?) that is being used too. I can’t decide if they should still affect vehicles or not… They would stripe your Spartans shields SUPER fast, pretty much instant (this includes if the Spartan has an overshield as well) Them being like this, I feel they would be more of a denial weapon and not a “get out of jail free card”

Just reduce their damage that’s it

One idea would be that the grenade would no longer detonate when making contact with a surface. Instead the grenade would only
detonate after a set delay time, that way it could bounce around like a frag grenade before exploding

Option a,I don’t​ like reducing their damage because I think that would significantly nerf it for its intended purpose why’ll still not fixing the actual problem.

Option B, but WITHOUT the damage nerf - just make the spread of the splinters large enough so that a fully shielded Spartan can’t die by jumping through it , the shields will be deleted only. Essentially, similar to getting hit by a frag grenade while fully shielded. This accomplished area denial, while taking its ability to 1 shot get out of jail free away without changing the damage, but is still capable of getting excellent kills or even cluster lucks if placed appropriately… Been thinking about that for quite a while! Haha glad someone else had similar thoughts :slight_smile:
