How to fix MCC Voice Chat on PC

If you are like me, you’ve been playing the everliving crap out of the MCC on the PC. Be it either on the Steam or the Microsoft versions, you love it and you know it. However, like me, you may have also run into some issues, specifically with the voice chat. But fear not, as a solution has been found to fix any mic problems so that you can talk to your friends, coordinate with your team, or trash-talk the enemy into submission.

First thing’s first, you need to understand the voice chat you are going to be, well… chatting on. If you go into your in-game settings and go to audio, you will find a section labeled “Voice Chat Channel”. Here, you will be able to select how many people your voice is going to be transmitted to, and it comes in 4 forms, that being “Disabled”, “Squad”, “Team”, and “All”. It is kind of self-explanatory as to what each channel means. To talk to your team, you will have to push and hold down the “Push to Talk” key which is V. And, no, you cannot rebind it as of now. But if I am being completely honest, the keybind is perfectly fine. When you are in the menu and press V and talk, a little speech-bubble should appear next to your name. This lets you know that your mic is indeed picking up your voice and transmitting it to the channel of your choice. The icon for this changes when you are in a match to and antenna on the right-hand side of the screen

If you are not seeing the bubble or the antenna, this will definitely help. The next part, however, is going to get a little bit more technical, as you are going to have to go into your computer’s settings to do this next bit. The problem you are most likely experiencing is that your voice is transmitting to a driver that is not the one being used for voice capture in-game. To resolve this, you are going to open up Windows Settings and click System. After that, you are going to go-to sound and then select your default sound devices for both Input and Output. Once you have done that, then click “Manage Sound Devices”. This will then allow you to select your audio drives and selectively disable any extra drivers that might be interfering with both input and output.

If you are also like me, you may have a voice modifier like Voicemod™, this next part will require more in-depth tinkering with the settings. Unfortunately, the game won’t be able to decide between the two drivers of the voice modifier and the mic. So you are going to have to sacrifice it in order to use the mic. Make sure that the modifier is COMPLETELY shut off.

If everything has gone according to plan and you are getting those blessed speech icons, then you have done it! You are off to the races, or rather, the front!
I hope you have found this article to be helpful in some manner. I hope you have an excellent time here on Halo MCC!

Have fun!

Thanks, i figured Voicemod wouldnt work on it.
Wanted to blast Breaking Benjamin down the mic… :C

Did not fix my end im running a blue yeti mic. I think Steam is did not get this all set up before release

This helped me majorly! Deleted two audio inputs and now my mic works! Thank you!

Delete your audio inputs/outputs not in use.

Thank you very much ! It worked !

To save yourself way too much reading:

Go to your sound control panel - right click your volume control > open sound settings > scroll down to “sound control panel”

Go to recording devices. Make sure your microphone is set to default and disable all playback devices besides the microphone you want to use.

Worked for me.

This helped me too! Thanks!

Will this work if Push to talk is turned off?
