How to fix boltshot

It seems like everyday there is another thread about how overpowered the boltshot is, so instead I’m going to offer solutions on how to fix it. 1, make the overcharge use 10 rounds, not 5, to make it more in line with the plasma pistol; 2, disable the headshot capability of the weapon, in my opinion, only scoped weapons should be able to headshot; 3, and this goes for the plasma pistol also, make the charge up show on the motion tracker. At any rate, I would like to thank 343i for making the best Halo ever but no game is perfect and I would hope that my suggestions are taken into consideration. Any community feedback is greatly appreciated, tell me what you guys think about my ideas and what else needs to be done

The 3rd one was just plain stupid. They should nerf it by severely decreasing it’s overcharge range.

All these ideas suck, because it is not broken or OP…

I unlocked it for the reasons you all seem to think make it OP… it isn’t, there are so many ways to counter being boltshot camped… Like, jump around the corner, or if you know he is there, a grenade and a bullet in the eye.

Or take the corner really wide… Even in close maps it is laughable.

The thing about the boltshot… its only overpowered when you run around a corner and meet a half charged enemy, or if they otherwise manage to surprise you with it. in a straight up close quarters fight, the three secondaries are pretty well balanced. Charged boltshot, plasma + melee/headshot, emptying a magnum clip on someones head, all equally deadly.

I think a good nerf would be to shorten the boltshot’s charge speed, while decreasing its damage, that way hiding around the corner wont help much since youll have to hit them twice anyway.

Except you cant know that your opponent has a boltshot, and taking these precautions with every opponent would hurt your game more than just letting boltshots kill you.

Lol what? Anyone camping around a corner is going to be sitting there with some kind of OHK weapon, or is just bad anyways.

If you aren’t jumping the corners you leave yourself open to a nice headshot anyways from someone down the hall.

If you don’t know the person is there, why are you blindly rushing around corners?

There is literally no reason to not do these things and assume every corner holds certain death. If you need to learn this, go play swat for a few days and tell me about how checking corners hurts your gameplay.

When I say theyre waiting around the corner, I dont mean theyre camping, i mean youve already engaged them, and theyve dodged to a safe spot so they can whip out their boltshot and start charging it. Of course I check corners, but close quarters cat and mouse engagements happen all the time, and it sounds like the bolt shot has longer range than you seem to think.

Then you already know they are there and a grenade should be on it’s way in.

You cant always position a grenade well enough to kill, not to mention, at that range, frags will bounce away, stickies and pulse grenades wont detonate before the boltshot fires.

Besides, my main problem with the boltshot is the fact that it beats automatics at close range.

The bolt shot does NOT need a nerf.

It is perfectly fine. The only REAL problem that no one ever posts or talks about is the game breaking glitch where you can ignore the fully charge cooldown period AND fully reload it without the animation in half a second.

That’s because automatics are trash. They aren’t really ideal for 1 on 1 combat with… anything. Squad based combat though, they work great.

one of the boltshots weakness? its sound if u can hear it charging up from a mile away ur close to deaf!! i guess some people dont wear headphones but still its just another thing to listen for!!

Now there is someone credible. That right there is why it’s laughable.

They need to fix the reload glitch, if they have not all ready. Then at the most just lower its range it can still be used in situations successfully by veterns or skilled players.

I dont know about you guys but, i just hate the fact there is a one hit kill weapon in a spawning loadout.

I fully agree with Masta Squidge’s argument.

Taking a detour would hurt your game how?

It’s a close range wep, close enough for STICKY TIME. Boom, instant 20 points minimum. Making double points on your kills is pretty nice if you ask me.
