Ok. So we all seem to know about how regular WZ is playing out these days i.e people getting team stomped by organised, higher level, higher req equipped players, and 343 solution 2 trial changes of a 6 man fire team limit. I believe this problem with WZ is that it is now coming of age, as in becoming adult. I have been playing relatively close to when the game launched and When the game first started people had very low level reqs and not a lot of higher tiered items, the game was not so fast paced and random as it is now- chaotic. It took longer to wait for reqs, and bosses were a bit more easier to kill. Most of the time people would be fighting with loadout guns. Which meant the tempo of the game was less frantic, meaning that you had time to explore and learn the maps and get a general feel for things, also unrandomised bosses meant that a team had time 2 learn, prepare and get ready. There is skill in this, and was the main strategy that you could base games around. Now the bosses are random and it is harder 2 plan, which makes bosses unreliable ways 2 get your team ahead if you are doing badly. So players now focus on kills.
the problem that you have now is that as a lot of players are unlocking most of their req cert collections and perhaps have 100’s of reqs to use. If these people then decide 2 get together or organised it means currently that poor little jimmy (or Jenny: I’m not sexist) who just wants 2play warzone for fun, because they just got the game, or don’t play as a team spends most of his/her time looking @ a respawn screen, deciding which low level vehicle he/she can get destroyed in next or what puny weapon he/she can die with 2 give 2 the enemy.
The problem with this model is that it only rewards players who have stuck with the game for a long time, while newbies get ripped a new one every game they play. Now yes I know that we have spent a long time unlocking our collections, and that we should win if we put the time and effort into learning the game and get organised team work going: of course! But I have also noticed Having Played warzone for a long time, that it has brought me to a conclusion. A conclusion that changes need to be made. Currently as it stands the game seems random and chaotic, I would argue too chaotic. So let’s begin, The change of req regen means that people can get there Guns out faster, great in theory, but this only benefits the winning team, and makes it worse for the losing team. Reason: higher level req is brought out by the winning team, let’s just say ultra banshee. Losing team say bring out a ghost because that is all they can afford, The ghost gets totaled. Player has 2 wait for req regen. Gets killed by ultra banshee a dozen times meantime before getting out another ghost, gets wrecked again. When the person in the ultra banshee finally dies he can now bring out a phatoen straight off the bat. Losing team brings out a normal banshee and gets iced. And so the req snowballing effect is present, but imagine this happening across the entire team. So you have lower level players, who are not as good at the game who are not only just getting out classed, but completely out gunned. So tell me, how will this make them want 2 play on when they look at there scores, with 2 kills and 30 odd deaths? When warzone first started things were a bit more even, but now with more people with reqs unlocked it becomes a problem. & this will become an obsticle for new people wanting to play warzone. I personally want as many people to play halo as possible, and have a blast every game, I believe that this is achievable. But demoralizing new players is not something I wish 2 see happen. Sometimes when games go horribly wrong, I get demoralized, even tho I’ve perphaps done the best on the team! It’s heart breaking to see so many new players get killed so badly.
Now you might argue that: sour grapes, get good at the game like we have who have played it hard. & I would agree.
But now consider:
Hypothetically once everyone has unlocked there collection it should even the playing field right? We all have the same guns to shoot each other so it’s all even. Well i don’t think so. the conclusion that I draw is this. The problem is with the concept of the warzone game itself. I personally like the req system, I like the randomize rewards system. But It’s the COD aspect that I think breaks the game. Now don’t get me wrong. I love playing warzone. I think it has been the best thing 2 happen 2 halo for a long time! But I think it could be better.
So this is the idea basis of the change.
I’ve not played COD very much but from what I can gather, when you get kill streaks you get rewarded with better stuff, to help you kill the enemy faster. Sounds great again in theory, but I never liked it. Why should you be rewarded for being awesome, the game shouldn’t baisadly make you even more awesome at killing if you are already amazing. It should be giving the lesser players a helping hand to even the playing field! If your so awesome then bring it on. But alas, this is not the case. But it should be!
What I have noticed, is that higher level players in WZ are just as supsectable to a butt whipping because if you don’t get on top early game, you cannot access your req collection. So it doesn’t matter if you have 50 phatoens or nornfangs stashed away because you cannot pull them out, and because the increased req regen speed only benifits the winning team, with higher req caps unlocked, it is a one sided afair.
The thing that frustrates about WZ is that the game is decided in the first few minutes of play, which is why people are inclined to quit. Because even if you are amazing @ halo, it is all down hill from there. The chances of bringing a game back is so very small, that people realize that the game has already been decided and leave. because the bosses are randomized it is hard to plan, and bring the game back with a boss kill, and because the req regen has been increased, you will most likely die before you get enough time with your team to secure boss kills, which is why people seem to be more kill orientated. And thus enter the killing frenzy the ensues from the winning team. So what that means is that if you’re the best halo player alive you will have a very limited chance to help if you are losing, so small a chance that you yourself will get a humiliating pasting.
So the only solution 2 this problem is the radical idea, that warzone should either allow you access to your high tiered reqs, and or maybe a faster req regen over the winning team if your team is LOSING! Yes. So that means that uncle jimmy at 152 can get out his phatoen or beam rifle delta relatively early game, and start some butt whipping of his own, and show little jimmy how it’s done. But once the losing team starts to win, then they will be handicapped with a slower req regen themselves to EVEN the playing field. The game should give you a BOOST for LOSING. So that the higher level players get to do something about losing. Because as it stands currently, when people leave games, I have noticed that it is the higher level players that leave, at the BEGINING once the game is decided, the people you need 2 STAY 2 help WIN the game!!
So hopefully this idea could help balance warzone, get the higher level players to hash it out properly, and Give the lower level players something to work with.
And then we can go back to 12 man fireteams
