How to end the farming in Warzone

Following Monitor’s Bounty, there seems to be an increase in the discussion of farming in Warzone. I thought I’d add my two cents.

I’ve played a lot of Warzone and it’s usually as a random. I’ve farmed, and I’ve been farmed. Either way, it’s not all that fun - we all know more enjoyable games are close, hard-fought, and down to the wire. 343 had a clever idea as far as the six-man limit on Warzone; however, I know how enjoyable it is to get a lobby full of people for a few hours and play as a squad. Plus, a six-man squad plus six randoms can easily (and I mean easily) wreck a team of twelve randoms if they have any sense of strategy. So here’s my suggestion:

When a team has been triple capped and their core is vulnerable, a teleporter or two should spawn within the base. These teleporters should drop players off in neutral parts of the map (usually the areas behind the Fortress/Temple where bosses spawn). This would give the triple capped team the opportunity to:

  • Get map access without going through the group of twelve farmers outside their core - Flank the farmers - Capture a base and reseal their core (and thus remove the teleporters)
A good team, who deserves to win, could still cover these teleporters, ensuring a victory. However, it would add a bit of competitive flair to games that can trudge on for almost twenty minutes.

Thoughts?

Please post in the main discussion.
Warzone 6 man limit??? Nope, no thanks.

I’ve posted this before, I’ll do again, If 343 wanted to prevent farming in someway they should’ve create a social warzone playlist where you go in solo much like free-for-all.

Warzone is Social.

And they do want to prevent farming, they’ve given us the 6 player team cap.

It’s not permanent, because they’re looking for a solution to the issue.

Just give it time, they’ll figure something out so that everyone can enjoy the game.

I hear ya friend. They could have kept the 12 man fire team and just added your idea.
Or one I spoken of ages ago. A timer on tripple cap where the team can click on a pop up for surrender. Needs like 75 yes to end the game.
But they went a stranger route

I’ve posted something like this but was more of 2 more entrances that open when the core is exposed allowing them to escape across the map.
I also thought maybe having a room in the upper front portion of the base with the a couple turrets that you can access once the core is exposed.

Definitely like the idea of allowing players to get out of the base. Maybe have a few random teleport locations so the enemy can’t kill you as soon as you appear in a random location?

This ^^^ this right here. You Sir, you have some great ideas!

Said it before and will say it again… it’s impossible to prevent, at least prevent it 100% of the time. Gamers just have very unrealistic expectations for online gaming. Bad beats and one sided games happen. Always has and more likely always will. Even a complete game full of randoms can potentially “farm”. I feel they just need to make warzone turbo permanent. Keep both teams at max req level so they can be at their best defense/offense. The reason “farming” gets started is because one team gets their req level up and gets to the good weapons and it creates a snowball effect because the other teams can’t really refill their req meters to counter.

Or at lease bring it back every weekend.
If Mythic WZFF doesn’t return every weekend, I’ll be extremely disappointed in 343i.

Nah, the only way 343 is going to get rid of farming is to either

1.) Drop Halo, because “Farming” is just spawn killing/trapping and always will be. Halo 5 doesn’t change what it is, just what it’s called.

or

2.) Remove the Tractors and Combines, without the vehicles needed to farm the players can no longer farm. Problem solved.

For all the threads on farming, farming is really a small occurrence. People mistake steamrolling for farming. But

There are multiple options. The other and most popular option is create a separate Warzone playlist/gametype for teams only AND OR force teams to be matched against teams in matchmaking. Addtionally what is not be recommended enough is creating zones to spawn in such as Battlefield and Overwatch have so you want get spawn camped/killed. They could easily add a safe area at the back of the bases for spawning without concern for getting killed upon spawn. Then the players can choose to engage the dominating team or just wait it out. If all the losing team stay in the bunker. the winning team would most likely just destroy the core to get the match over with.

Those are great suggestions. But ultimately it’s up to 343 and the budget they have and the resources they have.

We just got to be patient.

Good things come in time.

This will always be a problem in online gaming. There’s no way around it.

Solo queue or team based matchmaking. That’s what we need.

That helps but even then it can still happen. I still say it wasn’t and isn’t as big as a problem as most make it out to be… no one has showed me a warzone service record where the majority of their games are “farmed”. It happens I know but when it does people rage and jump online and proclaim “it happens all the time” when in actuality it doesn’t happen all that often.

Farming is now gone it doesn’t exist.

That idea has been talked about before too

Just leave the bosses up at the neutral points to spawn kill for you. You can’t take a vehicle through a teleporter, so if you’re on foot toe to toe with warden/grunt mech, etc… well then lulz.

You know, this is probably the best compromise I’ve seen. You’re a genius ^. Make another Warzone playlist that you can only enter into as a solo player, and then bring the regular wz back to 12 man teams. Then team warzone players are happy, and solo wz players are happy (Probably, I mean, there is always going to be someone who disagrees). There will still be lopsided games, but no one will be able to complain about ‘farming’ in the solo playlist.

Agree with Cyro XVX, warzone IS social.

The ONLY reason farming got so much bigger (It’s always been around and always will be somewhat) was because 343I encouraged it with how you got Achilles. If 343I just made it based off wins and not kill x Spartans/Marines, Destroy x vehicles and so on, it wouldn’t of been anywhere near as big of a problem and that is the truth!!
