I got a decent clip for those wondering why they explode instantly whenever they get behind the wheel of the Warthog in H4.

I spent practically the entire match in the hog (switched it out for a new one after getting hurt pretty bad) while having a friend of mine that’s fairly below average to Halo gun for me.
Stats:
15 assists (14 Wheelmans)
11ish Kills for my Gunner
1 Kill at the end of the match (almost goosed…)
Tips:
-
Be conservative and patient. Harass and allow teammates to clean up kills.
-
Only push as far as your team is willing to go. Without teammates to fire at and distract the enemy, the chainhog does become a moving double kill.
-
You are a target. Use that to your advantage. Bait the enemy to push towards you and allow your teammates to grab easy kills.
-
Power Slide and E-Brake: These are vital to surviving. Use them when deemed necessary to avoid a bad situation.
-
Keep one eye on your radar at all times. If an enemy is on your radar, they are close enough to EMP you. The chaingun has some surprising distance, abuse that.
-
Always seek cover when your gunner is getting hurt. This will prevent you from losing the momentum gathered by using the hog.
That’s all I can think of for now. Practice and you’ll see things improve. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I’ll answer them to the best of my ability.
Your forgot one:
7) Wait for the June 3rd weapon update for the 35% damage boost to the Warthog chaingun before even going near that screaming metal deathtrap.
People die because most maps are terrible for warthog driving, full of choke points and most hot spots require one or more choke points to get to, and when a person hears a enemy warthog, such as myself, I go and blow that thing up fairly easy.
You CAN use it somewhat effectively, but the thing needs more durability and damage buff.
The ghost and mongoose are the only vehicles you want to use to rush out to the other teams side with and try to quickly get kills, all of the other vehicles are best used as defense.
If your gunner does not have a mic keep extra distance between you and your targets… Put your target directly in front of you if possible and honk, this will help your random gunner find what he needs to shoot.
Finding a gunner that is not brain dead seems to be the biggest problem for a good driver.
Those are all good tactics but honestly it doesn’t matter what you do as long as your able to start the game with plasma pistol and plasma nades. I’m pretty good with the Warthog but if someone wants to take you out there going to. I’ve had a vendetta against people before and all you have to do is watch your hud, wait for the red triangle, and let loose your plasma.

A good driver is not going to drive towards the enemy base with reckless abandon and allow the enemy to get them with this cheep tactic.
As a driver myself I am far more worried about the laser, incineration cannon, banshee and tank. The plasma pistol and stickies rarely get me because I drive smart.

This seems like the best option available. I think I’ll be taking this one. XD

Well said my good Warthog Driver. Well-said… Unfortunately you forgot to list the things that you were absolutely NOT supposed to do.
(Driving into Mass of Enemy Team)
(Flipping the Warthog)
(Driving to fast for the Conditions and Terrain)
(Trying to Splatter a guy Armed with Plasma Grenades)
(And all that Other Jazz)
