How To Disable Scope Glare/Glint

I currently play on PC (Steam) and noticed a ton of weapons having scope light effects and want to disable them completely. I would like to know what settings to change on my PC to disable them.

In case someone isn’t aware of what I’m talking about. Certain weapons have a light effect when someone is aiming at and/ or in your general direction through a scope.

I’m not sure about all of the weapons that have it, but I’m sure there is a list online. It goes by another name " Scope Glint" as well. It’s basically a casual thing developers add because they’re bad at games…

My opinion on it, I would like it removed completely. Halo didn’t start with it, I don’t think it needs it. Swat is a mess with it, and all I see now when shooting is lights.

They shouldn’t be in halo and you can’t turn them off.

“It’s a feature”

The scope lens flare is so strong they would make JJ Abrams jealous. Seriously though, they need to tone down the strength they are too distracting/blinding.

Hello,

Yeah, I wouldn’t call it a feature myself, but I get your reply. Thanks for commenting.

Hello,

To be honest, I wouldn’t be satisfied with just a lesser effect, I want it completely removed. I’m not trying to sound selfish, but I think the effect throws off the iconic gameplay.

Halo Infinite already features vibrant outlines to in-game opponents for spotting purposes, Coupled with massive amounts of aim assist and/ or shot trajectory magnetism for easy aiming.

How many more helpers does 343 feel is necessary for players to enjoy a game of Halo. Like come on game developers, take off the training wheels.

Anyways, sorry to reply so much, but I honestly can’t stand how developers are lowering the skill gap of video games.

Thanks for replying.

Halo 4 copied Call of Duty Loadouts

Halo 5 copied sniper glint with all 3 sniper weapons.

Now Halo Infinite has a sniper-glint with all guns.

This is so sad. Alexa, play Deference for Darkness

Oh, I wasn’t aware that Halo 5 had a portion of the same effect. Side topic, what is blurring out some of the text from your reply?

Halo 5’s Sniper scopes did the following :

  • SR - A BRIGHT FLOODLIGHT SHINES UPON YOU IF YOU ARE BEING WATCHED FROM AFAR !
  • Beam Rifle - AN ANNOYING BLUE LENS-FLAIR TWINKLES WHEN SOMEONE IS PEEKING AT YOU. !
  • Binary Rifle - ORANGE LASER BEAMS !

The blurred text is a spoiler. You can activate it by pressing on the cog-gear when you are making a post.
It allows you to make it so the text is blurred until you click on it, so spoilers aren’t, well, spoiling the story.

oh, Okay I get it now. Thanks for letting me know!

I guess they added them so you could have a clue when someones trying to snipe you. Sniper weapons tend to be one of the harder weapons to balance in most shooters, as they’re usually either of the most powerful or just utterly worthless…

There’s a reason why aim botters generally swap to snipers in games, because they can utilize them to their benefits the most.

They could be a little less obnoxious though. It’s like a form of signal flare tellling everyone “HEY STUPID, I’M OVER HERE!!!”

It was never a problem in previous Halo games. And given how fast Spartans can now move on foot with Thrusters and Grapple Shots, it is easy to miss someone’s head and just body-shot them.

It was horribly executed in Halo 5 where you always had a thruster equipped, so at the tap of a button you could dodge a sniper shot because you saw a bright light in the distance.
It made sniping into an ambusher’s game as you now wanted to target anyone who was looking away from you OR you had to do Call of Duty quick-scopes .

H5 was all about the no scopes because hip firing the snipe actually worked in that game

It works in EVERY Halo game.
Because unlike every other shooter out there, when the sniper isn’t scoped in; it still goes straight forwards instead of “Hey, the gun is facing forwards and is level to the ground, but the bullet is going to suddenly veer 42-degrees and fly up into the sky.”

Nah, it’s easy.
HCE had M6D which as a starting weapon balanced it nicely, though Sniper was semi-difficult to use in that game.
Halo 2 had an effective BR which as a starting weapon made it balanced against those trying to snipe you, a Sniper Rifle which is unarguably the easiest and most effective Sniper in all Halo (and the most fun to use).
Halo 3 was more difficult because they added a wider spread to the BR and made it less effective, but you could still spray some fire and ping the Sniper.
Halo 4 had loadouts so starting with DMR or BR was common.

The balance issue was only a problem when they strive for a gameplay that revolves around you using an automatic or pistol with very little range effectiveness.
I commend 343i for recognizing how stupid AR/Sidekick starts are (and AR starts have always been) by trying to make it more difficult on weapons that out-class them at range, but BR starts would easily eliminate any need for the glare, truly, as it did in nearly every other Halo.

I actually though the hip fire “spread” mechanic was a genius way to balance the weapon.

At least hip firing still works on controller to a certain degree, using a mouse actively keeps the reticle on the outside of the player model. It’s nearly impossible to use unless you stop moving and let the player walk into the reticle itself.

Why is there a weird blur here?

Lmao 343 is so sad that they have to blur that song title because it was in a Bungie game and by the almighty Marty and they’re jealous their sub par game can’t have good original music and has to rehash classic tunes to grab what little nostalgia they can so players feel like they’re enjoying the product. LMFAO!!!

and for some reason that last comment didn’t reply to you directly. So JUST IN CASE you didn’t know…it’s directed at you.

Edit since this kid flags people’s posts. Ironic you’re banned huh?

That’s called a spoiler (it is almost never used to actually hide a spoiler though). The poster selects the text to blur, readers can view at their discretion by tapping on the text.
