HOW TO: DEFEND THE GARAGE in Firefight

From what I’ve heard, the garage defense seems to be the biggest problem for most people. So on that note, here’s how to beat it:

  1. As soon as round 2 ends, go to the garage to do your REQ shopping. There’s nothing worse than starting round 3 elsewhere, seeing that it’s a garage defense round, and the enemy starts instantly capping because none of you were inside when they spawned.

  2. If you have level 5 REQs, spawn a wraith and lay down fire inside the garage.

  3. If you do not have level 5 REQs, your objective is to either get to the stairwell or the REQ station on the second floor. The stairwell is best IMO, since it provides the best cover and is the easiest place to defend since the knights usually don’t come in there.

  4. Standard load out needs to be one precision weapon for crawlers and one automatic with kinetic bolts or extended mags (good point USS Galactica) for the soldiers. Unless you wanna REQ something better, like a SWORD.

  5. Don’t be afraid to charge the garage! Sack Up and lead with grenades and/or enter through the second floor balcony. If you die upon entering it means that you drew the fire and anyone entering behind you will live longer.

  6. Do not die with grenades on your body! They are worth more than gold to you, and worth almost nothing to anyone else since they despawn so quickly in firefight.

  7. If your team has a good presence inside, then get to the garage roof and shoot down into the second floor. Try to draw fire for teammates located in the stairwell. Then jump inside when bodies are needed. But beware of the drop ship turrets and phaeton fire when you’re up there!

  8. Go into this objective knowing and accepting that you’re gonna die several times. It’s OK, it’s gonna happen, don’t be afraid to charge in and demand that your teammates grow a pair and get bodies inside.

  9. Spawning a plasma pistol to Skijack a phaeton may be helpful, but don’t do it if you see a teammate already trying.

  10. DO NOT just stand outside where it’s safe and shoot inward while the enemy caps.

  11. And finally, DO NOT compete against your teammates! You have enough competition on this objective, so you do what needs to be done. If you’re not willing to play as part of a team, then you have no right to complain about losing.

Honestly it’s not that hard. I find it to be too easy. People are just bad at the game and the only place they can complain is here. Good tips though.

I find getting the Phaeton to be counter productive. It has trouble shooting into the garage, and many enemies spawn directly in there. So the phaeton can be good at wittling down enemies outside of the garage, but I would rather have boots on the ground in the armory.

As to the kinetic bolts, I don’t think they kill infantry faster. Promethean or not. The smg with extended ammo is where the money’s at imo.

Other than these changes, I agree with everything! Good tips!

Thanks! And yeah, I agree. I have yet to lose a game of firefight. The closest I have come to losing is a garage that was half-capped.

I don’t think they are necessarily bad at the game, but rather, it’s just another showing of small arena players bringing the same mindset into these larger gametypes.

You win at warzone when you play as a team. Try to lone wolf it without strategy and your team will lose every time against an organized team that plays together.

Likewise, I believe it’s called Warzone Firefight because, like the other variants, you succeed as a whole by playing as a team.

This is not survival, where you can lone-wolf it and stay alive on your own skills and determination. This is a team objective type game, and if you don’t play as a team, then you lose as a team.

In that respect, I think the garage defense objective is the best of them all. It accomplishes exactly what it is supposed to do: Make the players that compete against each other lose, again and again. Just as it should be.

I disagree with the first part. IF you’re not competing against teammates to skyjack, and you’re not allowing the garage to get cap progression while to attempt the skyjack, then I think the Phaeton is a great way to help clear the top floor (helping to ease pressure on teammates in the stairwell), and more importantly, the Phaeton is excellent for quickly wiping out the attackers on the outside and boosting the team’s kill number closer to 100. Not all 8 players need to have boots on the ground inside, and I would consider a stationary phaeton on par with a teammate with a wraith. Though to be clear, Phaeton/Wraith is the exception to boots on the ground, not the rule.

I completely agree with the second part, and added it to the OP. Thanks for the suggestion!

Phaeton is not only useful for killing those that spawn outside the base, but also good for killing the Phaetons that spawn later. Those things will REQ you (sorry, I had to) if you’re not paying attention, and are not easy to kill. However if you’ve jacked the first Phaeton the later ones are a piece of cake to destroy.

Also OP, I know you mentioned using a sword, but I just want to add to go for soldiers if you use one. It’ll tear soldiers apart but knights not so much. I can’t say first hand, but my buddy said he spawned a hammer just for fun once and he found it worked really wall against the Knights.
