How to counter infantry rush as banished

Title says it all

I main banished and im always great endgame, but the majority of my losses are when i get infantry rushed 5 mins into the game.

Back when the scout rush was a thing i could hit t2 and get hunters within 5 mins to counter, but the rangers are currently too underpowered to stop infantry.

Ive tried marauders, grunts & rangers, honor guard & grunts.

The most effective seems to be mass grunts but that still loses. As of right now i dont think banished has any viable counter to a cutter/forge infantry rush

Right now you just pray that the patch comes soon.

In all honesty that’s probably your best bet. In the meantime I would suggest having mass grunts with some suicides and a decent amount of jump pack brutes to back them up. If you jump into the enemy infantry you should stun and damage them enough to give you an edge. Hopefully by then you can get to midgame.

This isn’t full proof though. I’m really hoping the patch buffing Banished infantry comes soon.

I play ship master, suicide grunts+teleport, or a scout mine can really devastate when the marines get too close together

Give elite rangers beam rifle upgrade and a shield upgrade. Bring back the unit upgrades.

Simple, you do it better. Mass and upgrade your grunts, you can pump out grunts faster than they can marines giving you the numbers advantage in nearly every early fight. When going for a contested power node(any far from your side, like mid and their side) or attacking their base lay down a minefield to retreat through just in case. Select all grunts and mash Y while moving the pointer to make your minefield, takes only a few seconds. If you lose and have to retreat, which us unlikely provided proper use of our superior leader powers, they will have to chase you through the mine field, if they do their force should take enough dmg that you can simply turn yours back into them and win the engagement. Had a guy for some reason try to retreat his force through mine yesterday, ended badly for him because I got his troops trapped between mine and my minefield, none of his made it out alive. Glasing beam is your best friend by the way.

This strategy never fails: Resign.

Infantry rush back. I main Banished too and I have learned to love jump pack brutes because of it (Especially with Atriox’s passive countermeasure ability).They want to move around together which makes it perfect. Y ability the marines, snipers, and cyclops together and around them. Then, attack with grunts and suicide grunts, Elite rangers, etc. I had a good 40 minute battle in a one v one as Atriox against a Forge and boy it was fun.

Thats what i use to counter infantry attacks from UNSC and it’s the best thing to use in my opinion.

I like super grunts with Decimus, take all the passive, siphon, and glasing beam, upgrade the beam first if it gets that far. Use Siphon and or glasing beam with your mass grunts to win every engagement and simply overwhelm them, best time for me has been victory by 10:24. Marines really don’t like the glasing beam, it just melts them. And Siphon makes your grunts nearly unkillable in a firefight. If it does go late game the upgraded glasing beam counters everything

There isn’t much you can do as banished right now, I think my only recent loss has been against a shipmaster after I stupidly lost a bunch of marines to a mine. (note entirely certain the outcome would’ve changed as the guy seems to be a shipmaster monster)
Other than that I can’t think of any game where I’ve had problems with banished.

You just make grunts and engineers.

Whenever I see an opponent massing infantry, I just build into suicide grunts. 5 of them can wipe a 40 population army that is clustered like 100% of the time. Just make sure to scout to start cranking out squads before they attack :3

Unit Upgrades? Ouh yeah… they were awesome :slight_smile:

As Atriox i go for Jump-Brutes with the countermeasure upgrade. They shred infantry with a large enough group (8-12).
As Shipmaster and Decimus id probably go for scouts and Jump-Brutes.
If you don’t think you can win against them fall back, get a turret and research Fortify 1. If you manage to wipe their Marines and Snipers then research Logistics 1 to get more units into the front line faster. You’ll need a mini base for this though.

Problem is that scouts have been nerfed to be especially weak against infantry, and the brute get picked off by a sniper, as well as the base turrets getting destroyed by a grenade salvo.
