I was good with a Sniper in the other Halo games.
However, in Halo 4, I’m not.
Did 343 change something?
Either way, have any advice?

Grab a beam rifle whenever possible.
Binary bolts tend to jump to the right when unscoped.
All I can say.
they made the sniper too easy to use thanks to the lack of descope… does that count?
advice for ya is to avoid using it if your taking shots due to flinch throwing your aim around, try to stick with long range only, the BR has you covered everywhere else no problem.
It’s because there’s a microwave on top of it which is obscuring your view.
In all seriousness though, I remember sniping being slightly easier for me due to a lack of de-scope, but maybe you find it harder due to bloom or something?
Maybe, and it’s a big maybe, but maybe it’s to do with how Halo 4 is much like Fiesta by default, meaning there is almost always someone with a power weapon who is making life difficult for you while you snipe.

I suggest only using the sniper at long range (snipers usually suck at close range). Never use a Binary rifle. Binary rifles give away your position, and I find them to be inaccurate. Also when sniping, try to always use active camo. Most importantly, don’t panic snipe! Take your time, and set your sensitivity to 3 or 4 for easier aim.
If you THINK you should pull the trigger, don’t.
If you KNOW you should pull the trigger, boom, headshot.

Ew.
But thanks for the advice, nonetheless.
No-scoping is desperately tricky if you’re starting out. Try not to.
Try to predict where your target will be move to if he’s sprinting.
The reticle is about the size of a Spartan’s head. If your target is moving, the bullet magnetism may work in your favor. Just move your reticle the same speed as the player and shoot his head. It’s a tricky, swift and fluid movement. It takes time to master.
If all else fails, just aim for the body. 2 quick shots is all it takes.
Hope this helps OP.

If you don’t want to be seen, then I’d suggest using it, lol!

We were fine with strafing. But I guess one man’s tool is a another man’s weapon anyway.
Try to predict the other teams movements and set up your aim at headshot level. If the guy on the other team jumps you know where he’s going to land, so you should be able to get an easy kill.
predict your opponents movement and focus on areas with a long line of sight. on the smaller maps I use my team mates heads in order to keep the reticle at head shot level. I find quick scoping easier to get the kill than snapshots because of the aim assist being crazy easy on this game.
oh and never stand still with the sniper
if my first clip is off aim bad and I ain’t shooting good I normally carry on with body shots then finish with br head shot or shout a teammate to clean up. and then leave the next sniper spawn for a teammate to use.
amongst all the good times accept you will have bad games with the sniper
i honestly think the sniping is easier in this halo than any other… but that doesn’t really help you. try going in to a custom game of snipers with some FRIENDS who don’t mind helping you out. practice with it. if they’re better than you, (which my friends were when teaching me to no scope on 2) make it to where if you stop moving they can kill you, but other wise just practice with it… it really is super easy in this halo.
another easy way to noscope is to use the decoy down any hallways type area you want to control, level the sniper at your decoys head, then when an enemy crosses your path, just use the left thumb stick to strafe, since you’re already set at head height.
I just uploaded a very recent game of Team Snipers to my Fileshare.
If anyone’s willing to take the time to watch it and tell me what I’m doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Yeah pretty sure the lower sensitivity. Easier it is.

Yes!
Thank you.
First, using the right thumbstick, vertically adjust the reticle until it is level to your opponent’s head (or where it will be, if you’re waiting for an enemy to appear).
Next, using the right thumbstick, adjust the reticle close to your opponent.
Lastly and most importantly, use the left thumbstick to strafe until your reticle is over your opponent and then fire.

I was thinking similar… should I time the moment when the reticle turns red with a RT button press?
I actually find it easier in Halo 4, I love the Battlefield/cod style ADS system. I hated having to click the thumbstick to zoom.
