How to be as good as an MLG player

Step 1: Equip boltshot.
Step 2: Hide.

AND/OR

Step 1: Equip DMR.
Step 2: Camp and steal kills.

AND/OR

Step 1: Equip camo and sniper rifle.
Step 2: Camo then camp.

AND/OR

Step 1: Learn the spawn times and locations for all heavy weapons.
Step 2: Who-oore them mercilessly.

Why are MLG players so bad? More than half the time I avoid someone for playing like a complete tool, it turns out that they have the MLG stamp of fail on their profile. Most of them are terrible players once you realize that you’re playing against a boltshot noob and adjust your playing style.

Except legitimate MLG players, and high-level competitive players in general, do this. If you’re NOT doing this, then you’re doing it wrong.

How to make an ignorant post.

Step 1: Assume all kids with MLG in their name are MLG players.

Step 2: Assume all MLG players use the same strategies.

Step 3: Assume MLG players steal kills when more often than not they selflessly weaken enemies for their teammates to finish off, the exact opposite of stealing kills.

Step 4: Fail to realize MLG settings generally remove game-slowing mechanics like the camo ability.

Step 5: Assume all competitive players are jerks when many of them are actually pretty chill.

Step 6: Fail to realize they use camo in default settings because they are playing to win and use any tools available.

Yes and no. I don’t think you understand what I mean in step 2. Some of the MLG players (and not just MLG) don’t care about their team and just camp the weapons. In some gametypes they try to betray/grief their teammates. This is lousy who-ah-ooring behavior.

Another negative example is when an MLG party is playing an obvious team of random misfits (I am usually on this second team) and are kicking their -Yoinks!- because they know all the timings / use their mics but even after gaining a hefty lead STILL control all the heavy weapons to boost KDs. Even after half the other team quits. Then they start the spawn camping. I play for fun, not competition, and find this type of behavior is worse than that above. There’s a difference between competitive play and sweeping the leg of a ten-year-old.

Ramir3z77, I’m posting this from a lot of experience, not ignorance. There are very good MLG players, yes. But the majority of the ones I come across with the logo (they may not be MLG players so lets call them ‘MLG’ players) are blamtards. If you are MLG or pro-MLG, maybe you should worry about how they make MLG look. A lot of these ‘MLG’ players do use the same strategies. So much so that I know how they’re going to react.

I play a lot of FFA so the team argument doesn’t hold up. Then again, neither does the ‘competitiveness through altruism’ angle.

I’ve nothing against camo - unless it’s used for chronic camping. I use camo a lot to give me a split-second advantage in shootouts.

These self entitled “MLG” Players are just peeps who want to look “cool,” ending up looking like tools.

A simple thing to return to the mad trash talkers, just don’t smack your lips back. The results get hilarious sometimes.

The actual big league players of MLG, are friendly, easy to tell a difference between both of them.

Hell, I’m somewhat of a lone wolf causal play with no MIC and that’s what I do!

OP has no idea what being an MLG player actually means.

I guess I am guilty of doing the last one? … but I didn’t think that it was a bad thing… I thought that was proper Halo.
