Sprint is sparking alot of contreversy amoung the halo community but it can be made to work competitively.
My Idea to balance
Two big problems with sprint is running away from a battle and rushing up to someone and pummeling them. Now how to we solve this problem? Its so easy that 343i may overlook it!
When someone is sprinting and they get shot or receive any from of damage they stop sprinting and going back to normal speed. Thus people can’t run from battles and it allows players to stop sprinters who wish to pummel. When a player is shot out of sprint they get a 2 second penalty before they can start sprinting again.
Of course give the sprinters a tool to fight back like strafing so they can dodge their enemies shots because strafing in Reach sucks and its to easy to shoot someone.
In Social Playlist, sprint defracts for damage each player takes. Grenade takes out the sprint meter completely, a headshot takes out 50%, and a sniper shot takes out 75%.
What if we adjusted sprint. What is being shot while sprinting slowed you down and detracted from your sprint meter.
Detraction could maybe work like this:
-Full grenade blast takes out 100%
-Partial grenade takes out 75%
-shots detract from sprint based on damage.
-sniper takes out 75%
-BR takes out 25%
-Assault rifle takes 10%
-Maybe plasma weapons could detract more like the plasma freeze from CE
This IMO would woulk better than one shot completely stopping you.

Excellent. But I’m still against sprint but this would be the way to go if it absolutely must return.

Same here. But sprint was already introduced and game developers are real stubborn and won’t probably remove it so I guess we’re out of luck.
This is the best we can do so sprint can be a good part of the game. Dividing people up into playlists is a bad thing for the community so we need something that can fit the shoes of casual and competitive player and my changes to sprint work the best along with other necessary changes.
