How to balance promethian vision

I know these topics will come up a lot now, but i really wanted to give this balance idea a limelight in the forums.

So promethian vision to me seems exaclly like detective mode on batman arkham city.the same style concept and it feels. Like a straight rip off.

So this is how promethian vision can be fair.

  1. Make all non-human(player) objects bright red coloured instead of blue.

2 .make players a dark red colour so its way harder to see people through both red colours.

  1. Make players anatomy look like dark red blobs that only just look like a human body( being able to regognize those blobs are the hand,arm,head.etc.

  2. Remove the hud when a player activates the ability( to pros this will be a hinderance but new players will find this not a problem).

  3. If the player moves the vision blurs further mixing red colours making it impossible to tell between player and terrain(its important for pros to be on the move meaning pros no want to use this ability).

  4. Just keep everything the same now such as time, range( as the red colours would be harder to separate and recognize as players the further you were away)

These try and make this what 343 wanted it to be, newbs would use it but pros would be better without it.

Thx for reading!

I don’t think it needs nerfing, if it does get nerfed I think it will end up being under powered, all the times I have seen it used, I did not see it give the user any real advantage, they just knew where to move to, still got destroyed if they weren’t careful.

Also btw sorry mods the ipad had lag issues and ended up posting this thread THREE times!!!.

And to me a good player could easily destroy the enemy team with the huge recon bonus

This.

In the gameplay I’ve seen, most of the time PV was used, it didn’t provide any major advantage. All the information it provided was available from the radar, for the most part. The only manner in which PV should be nerfed (if at all) is the removal of the radar when PV is active.

Exactly, it’s fine the way it is, I believe anyway. People shouldn’t be firing the nurf gun too early. It could just end up ruining the ability, let’s just see a bit more, maybe even wait till we try it ourselves. Because Promethean Vision doesn’t really look that bad… at all.

This would be my option. Videos are nice, but it’s impossible to gauge anything without participating. A good example is Gears of War 3. I was excited for the Retro Lancer, but no video could have prepared me for the actual act of playing with it. The same will be true for Halo 4 and, specifically, Promethean Vision.

I think it would be fair if PV couldn’t see crouched players.

Halo is supposed to be at least somewhat based in fantastical science and technobabble.

How do you explain that, short of just saying that it’s magic?

Exactly, there are many things in this game that we will be very surprised with, most probably even relived with come release time, you can never truly get a full understanding of something unless you try it yourself, therefore it is pointless making nerfing suggestions when what you think is OP could be completely balanced, as is the case with this armor ability. That’s what I think anyway. I really believe this game will succeed, everything I have seen so far has really got my hopes high for this game.

Basically all my thoughts.

Plus most of the game footage we saw it used was from MLG pros.
Its not going to take them very long to figure out how to use any AA effectively. If they had used the shield more, we would probably think the same thing about it.

you know, the first thing i thought when i saw that was “wow, that AA is useless”. like seriously why would you use something that does what your radar already does for you? plus you won’t be able to see a single enemy before the scan passes through them, which makes you extremely open to mid ranged enemies. over all, i’d even take the lololgram over this

It’s fine the way it is. It just tells you where you need to go on the map, don’t see why it needs nerfing.

Heres a better one:

  1. Have the duration run out at twice its current speed

  2. Disable the ability to turn it off, aka once you turn it on you have to wait till its depleted

  3. Increase the delay on revealing further enemies

  4. When players are hit by PV the user flashes on the players screen for a split second
