How to avoid Matches in Progress

I’ve noticed a difference between getting placed in a fresh match and getting tossed onto a losing team in a match in progress. When you’re teamed up with a fresh match, the game will do the standard countdown after finding players. However, when it immediately finds a full lobby and goes right into loading the game without a countdown, you’re about to be tossed into the sacrificial pit of Match In Progress for some other team to steam roll. So as soon as that matchmaking screen goes right into loading and doesn’t countdown, hit that home button before the screen loads and quit Halo 5 as fast as you can. That way you can avoid getting put into a bad match and you don’t get banned for quitting. I know it won’t completely prevent ending up in garbage matches, but it might help a little.

The important part is, you have to do it BEFORE the screen goes black. Otherwise it’ll count you in the match and ban you.

Use it in good health, folks.

Is that why you have 5 Dnf’s today? Too many Dnf’s will lead to a ban.

I had to test my system somehow. Now I know when to exit out. Thats why I said, the important part is quitting before the screen goes black. Also, all of those matches, all MIP’s. So I was going to lose anyway. I’d rather take a ban than put up with the bulls41t of this game’s f^ck3d up matchmaking system.

Can he not be banned in waypoint for a post like that?

Nah, I’m reporting an exploit, bringing it to 343’s attention… as if they read these forums.

Or, you just play one game, then you stay in matchmaking while the intermission counter is on, then your next match won’t be a match in progress. Unless you are jumping around to all different game types after you have inevitably lost…

I will say I hate getting placed in the middle of a -Yoink- match.
