Xbox Live has a feature that allows you to “Block” another player, which prevents them from sending you messages, joining your party or game, and most importantly, they are removed from your matchmaking experience. The best solution I’ve found for dealing with spawntrappers is to block them as soon as I identify them, be it through Spartan Companies or first-hand experience. If I experience it first-hand, I will also Report them for Unsporting behavior, as well as leave a brief comment describing the specific action. Not only does this provide a small amount of satisfaction, but if enough reports are filed against a player, the Xbox Live moderators will usually ban the player for a time relative to their behavior. While this doesn’t directly solve the issue itself, it will remove the likelihood of you experiencing it again, as well as possibly punishing those responsible for behavior that is considered to be Report-worthy. You don’t need to leave a comment specifying the Unsporting Behavior, but doing so will bring the matter to the attention of the XBL mods more effectively than just an influx of generic Unsporting Behavior Reports.

Doesn’t always work, git gud.
Let’s take it a step further, everytime you lose block the entire other team so you only play people you beat.
And by git gut you mean get a crutch
If I’m in a spawn trap I mess around with the Marines and shove them in the line of fire. When all of the Marines are dead I jump around and try to find cool spots in the back of the bases.
Spawn-campers annoy me as well, but I don’t see how it violates the Code of Conduct. There is no way people will be banned when it is simply part of the game. This is similar to reporting someone for waiting around corners with a shotgun in CoD. You must be one of the kids constantly calling for nerfs and buffs.
Can someone explain what “spawntrapping” is? From what I can tell, it’s when the base defenses go back online and someone is stuck inside the base, beyond that, I’m lost.

It’s any time you lock down the enemy spawns and slaughter all of them without remorse.
Youve lost all your bases and the enemy is keeping you in your base with the core, without taking out the core.

Right, but how does one “lock down” an enemy spawn?

That’s an abuse of the system, which not only lowers your MM pool unnecessarily, and may prevent any possible friendships that could be formed with those players.

Either in Warzone you steal every base early in the game and trap them in the core room, or in Warzone Assault you take their bases and then keep them confined in the core room without destroying the core.

Oooh, so basically “kill-farming”? That’s happened to me before the Achilles armour was even announced…

Artificially extending the length of a match at the expense of other players, and for the benefit of padding your K/D, would be considered as unsportsmanlike behavior by most gamers, not to mention moderators. In the most extreme cases of spawntrapping, the parties responsible for the behaviors are technically interfering with the play of the game, albeit with high skill. Regardless of intentions, interfing with the play of any other “competitive” sport in the real world is a punishable offense. While the comparison isn’t quite as appliable to virtual settings, the behavior is still unsportsmanlike and as such can be justifiably reported under the category of Unsporting Behavior. Reporting them is optional; blocking will directly affect your chances of being spawntrapped in future games.

In Warzone, Once all three bases are taken and held long enough it forces the losing team to spawn at the core base. On all the maps( except APEX 7) most of the time it means game over. Because the players can’t retake a base which means they have almost zero chance for a comeback. So they will either spend the remaining time of the match defending the core or trying to take back the closest base. The only hope is getting a vehicle and racing thru the gun fire to the base the the most far away and try to capture without anybody noticing. In arena its he same idea but on a smaller scale. You control most of the map forcing the enemy to spawn where you want them for easy kills. I don’t see that happen hardly ever in arena. It happens but not often.

From my experience, the “block” feature hasn’t always kept that player from being in another match made game with or against you. Blocking messages & other contact means yes.
I recommend against reporting people who do this. For the record, most of Halo’s community of higher level players who play the game extremely routinely are in Spartan companies who play like this. Microsoft and 343 are not going to ban their most devoted players for playing as teams and exploiting the poorly created system in which people can be spawn killed so heavily. In the end, it may get you in trouble for abuse of the report system.
If you really hate it, try blocking as previously suggested. You can also just start playing on teams, and once you start you’ll realize just how much better it is. I’ve played only a few games of WZ solo since I started playing on teams, and each experience, even when we won, was nowhere near as satisfying. It’s SO much more fun to be coordinated, and once you befriend people spawn killing becomes a very casual way to keep gaming while messing around and having fun.

There is no way to prove they are “Artificially extending the length of the match”. I’ve been in several matches where we were able to take all three bases early like 3 or 4 minutes in , but it took another 10 to destroy the core, because the opposing team didn’t just give up and put up a great fight.

Gotta disagree here. Apex is definitely the easiest (it’s the bane of all teams), but Noctus is also VERY possible. On Stormbreak the trapped team occasionally has a miracle happen. On ARC, your chances of winning the lottery are better than escaping a spawn trap held by an only decent team.
