There has been an discussion over this topic way back in late 2018. The op of that topic described that 10-12 years from now,when the final halo game in the series comes out,humans will fire all the halo arrays ,wiping all the sentient life in the Galaxy . That would actually make a pretty sense if there is to be an situation where flood has taken over most of the Galaxy and there is nowhere for humanity and other species to go so they would activate halo arrays ,just like the forerunners did, so that the upcoming souls doesn’t has to face the unstoppable threat. I agree with this theory of that op. What do you guys think?

Even firing the array wouldn’t be a solid, concrete ending. There would always be tales to tell. Either stories of what came before or even stories following whoever fired the rings. Presumably, whoever fires the rings is on the Ark, thus safe from the effect. I doubt humanity would be brave enough to sacrifice themselves the way the Forerunners did, so there would undoubtedly be a colony/group on either the rings or the Ark. And I’m sure that there are tons of enemies who have discovered Shield Worlds for exactly this circumstance.
Doubt it will be infinite’s ending. But an ending to the series by activating The array just as the forerunners did and proving that humans are caretakers of the galaxy would be a phenomenal ending

It’ll end at some point for sure. I’d say it’ll end in 20-25 years max.
There is video named “we are 343 industries”. Bonnie Ross mentioned that they want to keep this series running for next two decades. Honestly, this series is one of the most legendary and world changing video games. But you can’t keep a series that long. There will be a point where the gamers wouldnt just want to play the game especially the new ones. They would be like “yeah my father told me about this series. One of the best in the world. But there are just too many games in the series. Ain’t got time for that” . They would be like oh! It’s just an another halo game. At a point there wouldn’t be any ideas left. Imo 2 more games after halo infinite should mark the end of the series. And that would completely fine to me if they do that with firing all the rings.
Anyways my main point was to know how you guys would want to see the series end
