How the Ghosts fail because of their physics

What is wrong with the Ghost physics, it is completely random if you roadkill someone or just empty their shield. I just drove over 2 spartans with max speed and all it did was flip me and my ghost around without killing even one of them. Sometimes is literally shred their heads off with my ghost and they’re just fine. What did 343i do here? i get stuck in totally stupid placed with the ghost in this game. I run someone over only to get stuck in some edge where the ghost can’t get grip. The physics of the Ghost and Warthog really hurt this game right now. It just shows how little the vehicle combat is appreciated by 343i in Halo 5. For me it is really dissappointing that this made it into the final game.

To elaborate my issues with the ghost physics let me explain what i mean.

1 :The roadkill system. Roadkilling someone with a ghost is typically easy enough, in Halo 5 it got trickier thanks to the thrusters. But what is also different from earlier Halo games is that it is way harder to judge if you will kill someone or just knock them back or empty their shield. I don’t know if this has to do with the netcode or whatnot but i would really like to be able to say “Ok when i run him over with boost right now i’ll kill him”, right now it’s more like “oh well let’s give it a try”. It seems that your speed, flight/hover height and the enemies health do not factor in at all. I can run someone over and the person 5 meters behind him still survives with emptied shields, even though i hit them both with the same speed.

2 :The corners and edgy surfaces in Halo 5. Prime expample here is the vehicle bay in the warzone Fortress on March on Stormbreak. The corner of the vehicle spawn is an edge i spun myself over a few times. It usually happens like this : You try to run someone over and this person is standing on top of the vehicle hatch. The moment you hit the border of the vehicle hatch your ghost makes a jump and flips over. Similar things happen on seemingly plane surfaces or normal terrain and i get flipped over some pebble that should in no way ever have any effect on a HOVERING vehicle. i mean why is the ghost so flippy and fidgety in this game.

3 :The base ghost or in general all base vehicles are WAY too weak. It just doesn’t make sense to spawn a vehicle only to be shot to death about as fast as if you run around on foot. The base damage of the vehicles is ok ( although the warthog could have a little extra machine gun damage ).

4 :The maps, i have never had the feeling that any Halo 5 map was really good for vehicular combat. I really want to have a map that feels like it’s made for vehicles and actually plays that way too. On most maps the vehicles are always semi-useful, because all the vehicles are forced into certain situations where they are really useful. For example on Escape from A.R.C, although you can drive your vehicle from Base A to B without too much effort the middle space where both the armorys and the garage are placed is too small to have actual vehicle combat. Most of the time when you have a great vehicle you stand either in front or inside of the tunnel and shoot your main cannon. This is a problem is see with most maps. On Battle of Noctus you have a wide open space in the middle but in most cases you will never fight against vehicles there becacuse no matter what team spawns a vehicle it is most of the time stationary at the Garage or slowly creeps around the map to get to the enemy garage. Long story short : I want maps where 2 or more scorpions fight each other head on while the warthogs and foot soldiers run around wreaking havoc on the sides.

Tl;Dr: I really don’t like how bad the vehicle physics feel overall in this game and the ghost is a example for that because the ghost is actually used a lot, not like the warthogs. By the way the infinite gungoose passenger nade spam should go away that is seriously stupid.

You say you’re going full speed and don’t get the splatter. Meanwhile I get hit when the ghost is basically parked and I die.

Exactly that is my point. It is totally random , sometimes you platter someone by just bumping into them and other times you don’t get the kill at top speed. This is the issue i want to adress with this post.

there is a new armor mod…the spartan armor detects incoming vehciles over X speed in which it spews an oily liquid over the body to make incoming vehicles glide off

What if they had the upgraded shield mod?

Yeah, maps don’t seem very vehicle friendly. Maybe this was their way of balancing out the infantry/vehicle combat? Physics have always been off the wall and was changed even more in the last update to lower splatter rates. It was bragged about in one of the Cannon Fodders. Wait til you more people figure out how to board fully boosting ghosts/banshees;)

I got agree the physics on Halo 5 are so inconsistent.

I was in a Tank one time and an enemy ran against me and died and I was not even moving and also splattered someone by rotating the turret.

Nothing is better however than fully boosting into an enemy and then the ghost flips good 10 feet into the air. Then I was able to still escape and barely bump a teammate and betrayel.

Agree…
