How the Flood would Play if Playable?

For halo wars 2 (keep thinking postive) the flood would have to be a playable race, based on how it is portrayed in halo wars how do you think it would play?

Would it be OP currently, underpowered, or what?

I think flood would certainly destroy any infantry based armies without any trouble as they seem to convert a large quantity of infantry.

Vehicles seem to be a problem to me though and I don’y know how air would work

I assume infecting other units would play a large part. Therefore the Flood units must be very weak, as they are in the game now. This also means they could exceed their population cap and that could be tricky.

As for unit variety, that shouldn’t be much of a problem. The units on release are interesting and larger ground and flying units could be thought up pretty easily, and I’m sure someone has already created them somewhere.

I think the flood would be a weak fraction, but a great rushing one with a large population of units.

I think if they added it they would have an extremly strong early game, better then the covenant but after the early game I think it would fall behind

Tell me how the bases, tech, and leader powers will work.

I don’t know how tech would work but units. Based on halo 3 varients would be like flood tank and the flood spitters. The reason I believe they would have an extremly strong early game is if they had a spores special unit that could infect enemy units that are infantry maybe even light vehicles such as choppers and ghosts. This would allowfor the flood to counter early infantry rushes such as the brute or elite honor gaurd useless.

That’s a very rough idea.

Sorry if it doesn’t make sense.

Having to infect stuff to get tech levels would be a pretty Flood-y and unique way of getting power, as in each infection gets you say 5% of one tech level, and the requirements can increase as you get more tech. Then when you have X infections you can cash in 1 power rating and get some upgrades.

Obviously there are some little issues that arise if there isn’t anything to infect on the map, but that stuff like that can be worked around, can’t it? :3

Maybe when you produce vehicles you need to produce some kind of infantry to operate it, therefore they can be infected, but having separable vehicles and pilots seems a bit fiddly…

As for abilities I can imagine it having some ODST-ish power, like in Halo 3. Maybe put in the ability to kill a squad and have it turn into a couple infections.

flood tech level should increase with the number of bases they have. as the tech and base number rises build times and research times should decrease in order to keep them going through mid and late game.

I imagine that it would be like playing as the zerg from StarCraft.

I figure that their bases/buildings would cost less and build faster but be weak. Then the buildings would regenerate if not completely destroyed. The general strategy for flood would be to spread, so the bases have less building sites but more turrets sites. Basically Offense early game defense late game.

Awesome…That’s how

A leader for the flood could be Gravemind

His power could be his tentacles emerging from the ground during a battle, and perhaps crush certain units. Obviously this should take a long time to recharge but make sure the power is worth using during the game.
