I never got to experience Arena in Reach but it’s similar to how Halo 5’s ranking system works. I don’t know if there are any small differences but they both work the same.
You play and get ranked appropriately based on your performance/wins and get to advance through the ranks by winning.

It is very similar to Halo 5’s ranking system, except it was based off of CSR (combat score rating), instead of the “season” ranking playlist feature. Essentially each match you played in, you were given a weighted score - kills, assists, deaths, win/loss, etc - and that score was calculated to land you in a certain bracket of players (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, onyx, etc). I forget how many matches you had to play to get an accurate rating, but I feel like it wasn’t that many.
