How strong is an elite?

This is yet another thing that is kind of bugged me over the years. A line that seems to of gotten larger and more blurred now that 343i has confirmed that the Sangheili combat harness does improve an elite’s strength which honestly sounds like it goes against their whole “No genetic changes.” rule

Lol this kind of reminds of something I saw awhile back about how The Covenant were right their suspicion towards AI with Cortana going full on rampage on the galaxy. Really 343i should have the Arbiter extremely pissed at MC and Halsey about Cortana. It’d be a nice touch up showing how he’s still got some of that old covie still in him. Hell even Guilty Sparks an AI by the Arbiter’s knowledge killed Johnson because he couldn’t stand to lose his new toy.

Anyways getting side tracked. I heard that in Hunters in the Dark the elite’s in the story raw speed was greater then that of a Spartan IV in Gen 2 but haven’t found anything to confirm this. I’ve been to a couple other sites like HaloArchive and they too seem to not have a full understanding of their power or even 343i. We see an elite in Halo 5 get toppled by a Jackal and even a large grunt who’s name I shall not speak because it summons a particular person, was able to defeat elites in combat training, though through endurance not skill. Even in HW2 the brutes seem to ROFLstomp the elites in Atriox’s back story.

Another source I’ve only heard and never read or seen was that Lasky apparently fought an elite in hand to hand and won. Also what about general combat skill? Were told they’re trained like the Spartans of old. When they can hold a weapon they are trained to kill with it.

Is it safe to assume that the weak elite’s are young warriors just looking for a thrill while the stronger ones are veterans who know their body?

Side questions-
Can Sangheili actually not say the letter P? That love letter to Palmer shot that in the foot pretty hard.
Does “Blarg” have any significance to the Sangheili language outside of RvB? I know wort means go.
Is there some racism going on here? 343i refuses to add the old elites back into Halo games. Is it because they’re all black and the new ones are white? Really look at it, pretty shady guys…pretty shady. Even when they remasted Halo 2 the elites had pure white skin, except for Thel.
Is Thel “black” because he was burned alive?
Why has Thel had so many changes despite having a canon look. He went from Classic, to new in the comics, classic in MCC and back to the new form in H5G.
Whatever happened to Sangheili Majors?
And finally why were the allied elites in Halo 3 chumps? Did MC kill off all the good ones…seems like it.

You have many, many questions. I recommend buying a few books on the subject or scouring the background information on the ‘Universe’ tab at the top of the page.

The whole Bushido approach with the Sangheili has evolved over the years, so there will be information clashes every now and then. Their strength, the last I heard, is enhanced by the combat harness. But Spartans with armour have the edge in terms of strength.

Sadly, I’m poor and can’t afford them. I can barely even play since my left bumper popped out of my controller and I can’t get a new one. I have to hold it in place just to use it. So I’ve started playing games where the LB isn’t important, like Shadow of Mordor. The LB button just lets you scan enemies.

Then I’d just lose out on a different button. either way don’t worry. The nemesis system has quite literally infinite replay value. I’m not apart of some sort of marketing stun buuuuuuut I heard the Shadow of Mordor GotY is out only for 20 bucks at the XBL store aaaaaaaaaaaaand the sequel is coming out in 4 months…right before my birthday too.

In the Kilo-Five trilogy of books there is a character called Phillips, who as a scholar studying Sangheili spends a lot of time around them. They cannot pronounce the hard P sound, so they keep calling him phyliss.

I’ve never heard of nor seen a “no genetic changes” rule for the Sangheili. Wearing a suit of powered armor also doesn’t violate any such rule, if it did exist.

The only person at fault is Cortana for choosing to go full dictator, so him getting pissed at anyone else is pointless, ignorant and counter-productive to building an effective resistance to Cortana.

Elites are actually pretty dang strong, stronger than a spartans too. Their home worlds gravity is stronger then ours, and so when ever they land on another planet with lighter gravity, they become faster and stronger. Like a man on the moon, but less so. I think the reason people think that Spartans are stronger then elites is because one, you play as Spartans in game, and wipe the floor with hundreds of them. And two, because elites are surprisingly light. They only way between 300 to 400 hundred pounds, while the Spartans in Armour, and the brutes in general triple that. I think this is the case of them having hollow bones, like dinosaurs, this does not make them weak but light. This also makes them extremely fast, and as we already know dinosaurs were basically power houses, elites more then likely are the same way.

If you are wondering why they get owned in so many cinematics, it is because the main character needs to survive so the story can go on. although Atiox’s back story can be justified, as the brutes are technically stronger, also they kind of got ambushed and did not have much time to react. But i really think 343i does not like the elites, They take them away from us as playable, then they make them stupid cliche bad guy monsters, and now they are nothing like they use to be. Even in halo wars 2, they get rekted in almost every cinematic, The only elite leader who could have something interesting about him only has one cinematic, and like three lines, and he is basically being yelled at the entire duration like he is a grunt. They being given a bad rap, and it breaks my heart to see them this way. :frowning:

About the large grunt. You’ve awaken my interest. I wonder… I SUMMON THEE! … whispers (Stolt)

ah yes i do remember that i think.

Biologically they are in every way more impressive than humans and most spartans. They are taller, more muscular and faster.

Ironically its their size that gives most spartans an advantage. While Elites are a much larger species Spartans are in fact the stronger being as they have body enhancments and Elites are just regular biological specimens. Spartans can also use their armour stablizers to move around them more quickly using their larger frame as a more happy trigger target.

I would disagree with the speed part. Elites despite their size might be faster than humans but spartans reflexes and speed is both biologically and mechanically enchanged and the way I see it average elite almost moves like in a slow motion in the eyes of a spartan. Elites size and strenght gives them the edge in some situations. Usually when we see a single elite giving spartan real challenge is when they fight in a wrestling like situation. For example when Gek fought Thorne and the time Chief fought an elite in a zero-G environment.

Elites are about as strong as a Spartan, give or take.

If the combat harness improves proves their strength, it doesn’t break the “no genetic change” rule because it isn’t a genetic change. Think of it like power armor from Fallout. It’s makes you seem stronger using technology, but it doesn’t really make you yourself stronger. Kind of like using a crane to lift cargo.

Don’t know about the Elites and the letter P.

Why does everyone use the race card?

Elites used to say “blarg” when they died.

Arby had black skin before being marked. Pretty sure most, if not all, Elites have black/gray skin.

Elite major is too general. Some stayed in the SoS, some joined the Storm Covenant, some became mercs.

Most of the good Elites stayed in the SoS. The two we see as extra characters in Halo 3 did. They were actually in Hunters in the Dark.

Again I can’t confirm I just heard about these before but what about Lasky fighting a sangheili warrior in hand to hand combat and winning? That doesn’t sound like they’re superior to normal humans. Or when dutch apparently wrestled and elite to the ground and broke it’s neck.

The thing with Lasky was from the briefing packet on him just before Halo 4 came out. No clue about the one with Dutch.
That said, just because an enemy is larger and faster than you doesnt mean you cant kill it. Winning a one on one engagement is about knowing your strengths, the enemies weakness’s, and applying them together.

I think the Sangheili’s strength is that of a Spartan II, if not stronger.

Well, I guess a Elite minor is on par with a Spartan VI. And the Spartan IIs, like the chief, is equal to a Depot, or maybe even an Arbiter. That’s just my guess based on my experience.
