If sprinting was disabled when someone is being shot at and for a few seconds after being hit once, then it would solve a lot of the issues with sprint in Reach and could coexist with Halo’s arena styled gameplay. Here are some of the ways this sytem would fix the problems that sprint currently caused in Reach:
Running away from danger using sprint- Players would be forced to strafe once they are shot, causing a more skilled confrontation.
Breaking map control- This sytstem would not break map control on small maps as players are able to put more shots on enemy players in small maps, which means that the smaller the map, the less sprint is used.
Melee with sprint combo- An enemy player couldn’t charge with a melee when they are being shot
Sprint/sword combo-same as number 3
Using sprint instead of vehicles in a BTB game- players would be much more vulnerable sprinting across the map when taking vehicle damage, making vehicles more useful for map control
Slower paced games- Players would be more vulnerable when being shot at,which would encourage players to put shots on the enemy players and work as a team, making the game more “arena” styled.
Please note that I am explaining how such a system would resolve the issues that sprint currently has
I never had a problem with sprint. I actually thought it was a long time coming feature and found it a tad odd you couldn’t do it without an armor ability strapped to your back. I hope it’s kept for 4.

The difference is in the strafe speed.
Learn what you are talking about before trying to debate people.
Your own post about what you want in H4 asks for increased player movement speed.

The test for the movement speeds was (the video of Spartans running the ‘same’ distance) and this comment is making a statement on a false truth. Reach has movement speed decreases of around 8-9%.

Great, so lets say 10%.
Anybody who has played on 110% will tell you it takes much more skill.

It also asks for players to immediately accelerate to full speed when strafing. You never mentioned strafing until this point. What does strafe acceleration have to do with sprint? Hint: nothing.

It has everything to do with it. Proof: Halo: Reach, SOCOM: Confrontation and SOCOM 4.
When developers put sprint in the game, they ALWAYS dumb down base player movement. Lower base movement speeds = Slower sprint.

Sprint and regular movement speed are different. Just because a game has sprint doesn’t mean you can’t have halo 3 movement speed. The thread isn’t about that anyways

Completely agree.
And for the OP, I don’t agree. But I have another idea… I think that for every shot you take like 1/5 of your sprint is gone for each bullet and if you get shot 5 times you’ll have none left and have to wait for it to recharge.

Let me guess: both of you just read the title and posted at the bottom without even looking at what I suggested. Here, let me repost it so I can be clear:
Running away from danger using sprint- Players would be forced to strafe once they are shot, causing a more skilled confrontation.
The idea is that when you are shot you cannot "simply turn around and run off"because sprint would be disabled. Your post thereby makes no sense.
Or they could, you know, go back to how it was in Halo 2 and Halo 3 and cut the extra crap like armor abilities.
The game was much faster in Halo 2 and had the best online experience that Ive EVER encountered in any game.
Halo 3 just seemed a little slower
And Halo Reach is just awful in my opinion
> Sprint slows down gameplay, once you shoot someone they can simply turn around and run off, it should not return for Halo 4.
What a ridiculous argument.
Walls also slow down gameplay, should we remove walls too?
How about the fact that sprint greatly increases the running speed of players? Accelerates moving between places, more than compensates for people running away.
People also run away without sprint. Do you want to remove moving, too?

No I read your suggestion. I think it’s an interesting idea.
BUT
I don’t see sprint fit for Halo. I hate sprint and AA’s. That is my opinion. So even though your idea was interesting, I agreed with the other guy that sprint should not be in Halo 4.
