We all know AAs are here to stay, and that many are imbalanced, so how would you go about rebalancing them without saying “get rid of them”?

Add to your question, what if you can’t balance them due to the nature of their functions?
It won’t happen unless they only keep the weak ones. Things like Jetpack ruin map flow and is unbalanced and cant be balanced. Neither can Active Camo, Promethean Vision, or Auto Sentry. If they only had like Hard light, regeneration field, and maybe thruster pack.

All of those can be balanced actually.

This. There is already a balanced version of Promethean Vision. It’s called the motion tracker. Anything more than that isn’t going to be balanced. Here’s hoping the TU makes it so that when you activate PV it just kills your whole team. Haha.
Prom vision- 1 time use and only has a 3 second timer.
Jetpack- turned into a jump pack (double jump basically, only launches you slightly higher then the spring jump)
Camo- Scrambler effect actually working with a one time use that only lasts 6 seconds.
Regen field- Actually works so it takes 1 extra shot to kill.
Thruster- fine as is
Hardlight shield- it would be pretty cool to actually have the same mobility as a jackal but once the shield is destroyed it’s done.
Hologram- it could sprint if your press up on the D-pad.
Autosentry- Should not appear on radar so traps can be more effective.
Food for thought?
Honestly I think the very nature of Armor Abilities invites a lack of balance. We should go back to equipment from Halo 3. That way you can’t spam abilities over and over and everyone has an equal shot at them since they spawn on the map. They had a balanced version armor lock and the jetpack. They were called the bubble shield and the portable grav lift. It’s pretty hard for something to be game breaking when you can only use it once.
Introduce a few game variants into the existing playlists that don’t use AAs and then let us vote on it. This simple solution can also work for DMRs and Plasma Pistol/Sticky grenade starts in Big Team.

I wouldn’t put them all as map pickups and really the equipment thing while it worked in Halo 3 would not benefit AA’s at all unless hologram shot out multiple decoys, Hardlight had a higher probability of ricocheting bullets back at the opponent and thruterpack was like it is in binary slayer including buffs to turret.
I belive the best solution would be just to as you said for number one

The only AA that i believe needs a buff is turret IF!!! it goes back to to becoming like equipment and not all AA’s should be turned into equipment. Only sentry turret,jetpack (on certain maps if people want it still) regen, and Camo should go back to equipment/power ups same goes for damage boost,speed boost and over-shield.

Make Ordinance bring down the last 3 AA’s Hardlight shield, thruster pack,and hologram. these AA’s are more versatile in combat and I’ve seen them used in many different ways that just doesn’t seem to fit the equipment qualifications It just seems wrong to have them as such. These are in general the most balanced of all the AA’s and they each can be easily taken care of with enough awareness and skill. Plus since they wont spawn with it due to the return to classic arena equal spawns there will be next to no issues that people have with say Hardlight and hologram.

Solution to problems:
Create Ranked Playlist
Set Specific Loadouts (removing Jetpack and Camo)
Allow those two as possible pickups from Ordinance.
Problem solved.
In short: make them map pickup items that don’t recharge (or only recharge a few times). once you’ve used it (or you die) you lose it.
in other words they should behave like equipment

Some of them are inherently gamebreaking and thus can’t be balanced. They are inherently broken concepts to begin with.
I have some solutions anyways. Promethean Vision should be replaced with the ability to place waypoints on enemies and terrain for your team to see.
I’m pretty sure the AA’s are the best thing to happen to Halo in years. They single handily took a formula that was stuck in 2007 and made it playable again.

They are only inherently broken if it is contradictory to the map design. So then 2 things must happen, maps must be better suited for AAs which themselves must be balanced correctly.
