there’s rumors going around that 343 is ditching infinite and making a 7th halo. Seems to be outlandish copium.
For one: they invested millions of dollars into the game, its engine, etc. plus the fact they’re gonna upgrade its engine to UR5, implement more cross core, forge, and customs browser. They’ve put a lot of work into the game so I highly doubt it’s be ditched so fast as it’s a AAA game.
people have spent real money on the game so for 343i to ditch it with no refund capability for the game, and it’s in-game cosmetics would raise hell in the community and most likely no one would buy it. Due to the underlying thought “SCAM, me want your credit card number”
I would suspect that season 3-4 would be a form of relaunch of the game in a more finished and polished form. Let a lone the relaunch a form of “halo 7” where the game is actually good. With a ranking system, free earn-able cosmetics via said ranking system, polished play, no Desync, etc.
Not sure that a too much to ask considering ue5 will bring in a lot of support, let alone the ability to process everything properly aside from the slip-space engine.
Agreed that it would really bad press for a game that has already had a lot of it.
I think that at this point, after claiming that Infinite would be worth the wait, and justifying the 6 years of dev time with a “ten year plan” involving theoretically frequent updates, they would have a really hard time selling everyone on “wait another 4 years for us to make a new game in a new engine and then buy all the same cosmetic.”
Sadly I think either way, campaign expansions/DLC will probably ditch the current open world map and take us elsewhere. The progression system in the campaign also couldn’t be added to, they couldn’t just keep boosting shield strength and improving equipment forever.
It’s too bad, Infinite’s campaign felt like it was inches from greatness. If they had included Lasky and a few other characters, or giving the campaign a second wind 2/3 of the way through a bit more biome variety, or even just more variety between the repetitive objectives (UNSC squad and FOBs and HVTss.) Hell, just one more “cool” cutscene with some combined arms or space battles or SOMETHING could make the game truly great.
This is not only not a fact, but also rather unlikely. The H7 rumors are specifically because its unlikely that they’d swap engine, since it’d require redoing the game effectively.
Welcome to other live service games? There’s plenty of games that have egregious microtransactions that come out every 1-3 years.
Expecting 343 to remake the game in unreal and not trying to make you buy it again is the real copium.
Yeah. Well I’m pretty sure promising 10 years of service then ditching it entirely, making it a waste of their time, money, resources, etc. would anger some people. Not to mention the huge company financial loss from Microsoft and 343 for ditching it.
I say it IS a fact due to it being stated by devs and people “familiar” with the development of the game.
I don’t “expect” them to remake it in ur5. frankly I don’t care whatsoever.
UE5 is just gonna be a fresh coat of paint for a game with so many underlying issues it makes anthem look like a good game
Just so everyone here is clear, Microsoft hs a history of complete disregard about how much money has already been invested in something, so their current financial investment in Slipspace doesn’t matter, and you shouldn’t use it as a point.
That being said there’s also plenty of evidence that Infinite will be getting content for a while, so we’ll still get to enjoy a lot of stuff.
Slipspace is a revamp of the original engine used in previous titles. While it runs ok for sure 343 has removed modes and stuff with the excuse “the engine can’t handle it”
I do as the game has been in the amount for years on end. Plus it isn’t just Microsoft making the game. 343 with less money than Microsoft can have a financial issue afterward. Especially with their dwindling dev count.
There are conflicting ideals in this post between the graphics engine used (open-sourced vs closed source, communist ideals vs capitalist ideals) and the implementation of future Halo Infinite Expansions.
The simple fact is, Halo Infinite is currently in development and is directly competing with the Master Chief Collection.
When MCC multiplayer has run its cycle, Halo Infinite will get all the game modes you are looking for.
Additionally, Co-op and Forge are just around the corner, so this diversion from Co-op and Forge release info could mean there is going to be a big announcement or so big setback.
As someone who only cares about how entertaining the game will be, and nothing about the legal and political implications some groups who confuse science fiction with religion (looking at you, moron), I’m just looking forward to seeing improvements in storytelling, sci-fi, and unlockable content in Halo Infinite (if you care about what game engine the game is made in more than the game itself, you are doing it wrong).
If UE5 makes things better and easier I’m all for it and if they can port everything that they have over. I’d so pissed if I can’t have all the coating and things I purchased without them refunding me for everything I purchased. Or make everything free that they release for a the new game if the rumors are true
Halo follower had shown a post from somebody in 343 posting confirmation that it was happening. I don’t have twitter as it’s a cesspool of drama, mainly between woman who don’t like Andrew Tater. I will most likely never get it.
So if you got twitter id look. I’ll do some digging in my own to find the name, it’s been a long time since I’ve ever talked abt it
My apologies if I have late responses. Outside of halo forums I’m currently indulging in fixed wing piloting studies. Entering college to get a bachelors so I can go into the air force as well so that’s a thing. afterwards I may go into aerobatics.
SPEAKING OF! Infinite needs more aircraft. I bet the flight part of stuff would be cool in the game once de sync is fixed. And also if they added ue5. It would look aesthetically pleasing. Not that the games current engine “looks bad” or anything. The nature part looks good for sure! Its at just that some things look kinda plasticy. Halo 5 had that issue.
Oh halo follower.
I dont keep up with Chris-ron after all the despicable things he pulled and how poorly he researched for content back in halo4follower days.
Karaks sources are usually solid that said Ive not seen any 343i confirmations yet.
Perhaps deleted but no articles ive seen source them either so cant confirm the tweets.
Twitter is a cesspit but its not a whole pile unlike this place haha.
Can you show me the confirmation by anyone at 343 or Microsoft? Links to articles, screenshots, or timestamps on videos please.
This is a really unreliable source. I wouldn’t recommend you use it in any of your arguments in the future.
I’ve certainly heard the rumors that future protects are going to be built on UE5. The only “sources” for these rumors are “trust me bro, I know people.” I haven’t heard a single person (other than yourself) claim that Infinite is going to switch engines.
