It says that the armour is legendary, though I unlocked it after my first multiplayer game (I only started playing yesterday). I assumed it was something everyone got first time until I saw that it was legendary. Is it something common or am I just really lucky?
At launch it was kinda common. But, it is completely rare now it seems.

If you’ve played Halo 2 Anniversary at all on the Master Chief Collection, that’s how you unlocked the Mark VI Scarred armor. I believe you had to beat Cairo Station on any difficulty but I don’t remember. It only seems rare now because many people avoid the MCC because of the problems its been facing since launch and the negative stigma it has. I got the Mark VI Scarred armor before I even played my first multiplayer match of Halo 5 the day it came out, because I beat Cairo LONG before Halo 5 came out.
You can also unlock it from the REQ Packs from what my research entails. Also, I was right about having to beat Cairo on any difficulty to unlock it for sure. The short and sweet of it is: no, you aren’t lucky. Anyone who’s played Halo 2 Anniversary on the MCC most likely has it but just doesn’t wear it.
Back in Day 1 release it was a common sight, now I pretty much don’t see people wearing it now, I just wore Hunter day 1 cause I got the Pre-order exclusive

I got the Hunter armor and Fotus, but I gave my Fotus code to my friend because he loves the armor and I don’t. I wore both Hunter and Mark VI Scarred on and off for a while. Once I got Helioskrill (before it was added to the REQ pool) I wore that exclusively until it was added to the REQ pool.

I’m sure I got mine from the req pool but am going bsck through mcc beating the campaigns om legendary just for the fun and to be able to say i did it (halo 2 from what I can tell is going to be hell)

There are a lot of good tutorials on YouTube for Halo 2 legendary. You’d be surprised how easy some of the rather daunting levels could be. (Especially Metropolis with all those jackal snipers…) The only levels that I still hate doing to this day are Gravemind and Regret.
