Does anyone know how powerful the magnum, plasma pistol and bolt shot are?
Are the Plasma pistol and Magnum more like the halo 3 variant or the halo reach variant?
When charged, i believe the Boltshot does massive damage. Possibly an instant kill going off the Giant Bomb stream. I’ve seen some use the standard mode of fire and it didn’t seem that strong. When you charge the Bolshot, you have to commit to the entire attack. Once charged, it will fire, unlike the Plasma Pistol where you can just hold it down.
The Magnum is…well it’s not anywhere close to the CE Magnum and it’s a 6 shot kill with 8 shots in total per magazine. Use this weapon when you your primary needs to be reloaded, switch, and this will probably save you in a pinch (don’t spam it too fast). Also, the Magnum you gained while carrying the Flag will have altered traits so it might end up being stronger or something. 343 mentioned they are still tweaking the “Flagnum”.
The Plasma Pistol’s homing has been decreased (as way to balance it out for loadouts), thus decreasing the effectiveness of the noob combo. You can still do it but not like in Halo 2 or Halo Reach. It’s EMP effect on vehicles remains and will disable them for a few seconds. I like to add that if the player is using the Wheelmen mod, EMP will be less effective from the Plasma Pistol/Pulse Grenade.
The Magnum from what I’ve seen is definetly like the Halo 3 variant, the Boltshot is a little weak unless you charge it up and then it shoots multiple bullets and has an impact of a Promethean shotgun, and then I haven’t seen much gameplay of the plasma pistol…sorry
Thank you very much for the information!

I heard the magnum was in between Halo 2 and Reach.
The Plasma Pistol’s homing has been reduced, and charging it will reduce its power at a significantly faster rate than in previous games. Not sure about the damage it does to an opponent, though.
The Magnum felt a little stronger than Reach’s, but nowhere near utility-weapon status.
The Boltshot felt comparable to the Magnum, only it didn’t have bloom. When you charge it though, HOLY CRAP YES. It’s practically a Forerunner Mauler!
Also, the Needler’s supercombine is able to kill players around the player you shot.
