How ONI should be in h5

With master chiefs desertion, ONI will obviously be looking for him because desertion is a crime and always will be, also he took the armour with most likely tons of info on it. I’m thinking at random parts of the campaign ONI will attack master cheif out of nowhere, just when you think the levels almost done, BOOM there’s ONI just waiting for you.
I think this is a good idea, tell me how you think ONI should be implemented in h5

I don’t think they’ll have us fighting humans at any point.

It’ll probably be like Halo 2 with the Arbiter; he only fights rebel covenant and Flood.

The ONI Spartan will probably be following Chief and dealing with the Remnant and Prometheans.

If ONI are the antagonists for halo 5, then i think the spartan will be their assassin, targeting chief. Possibly a replacement for the spartans, hence the word “Guardian”. It is also perfectly plausible that the Guardians are a new species altogether.

but enough of that, i don’t think they will be antagonists. As much as i would enjoy it, i think they will still be operating undercover, and that we will either be fighting innies, or still primarily the covenant remnant. I think ONI would be what they always have been; the shadowy organisation working behind the scenes.

Where are people getting this idea that Chief has gone Rogue? How do you know that?

Remember at the end of Halo 4, Chief and Laskey are talking on the Infinity. Chief states; “Our duty, As Soldier is to protect humanity. Whatever the cost”

Chief still thinks like a Soldier guys. He knows that Humanity needs his help. He knows that its worth protecting.

For all we know, ONI could of sent the Chief on a Classified mission. The Chief went too deep and now he needs to be recovered.

While ONI want to replace him. It’s very likely that they could of changed their minds when Chief came back into the picture.

I just think Chief going Rogue and.or becoming the Antagonist is a little too extreme for him.

I believe that ONI has a big role to play in Halo 5, but I don’t think that they want to fight/kill Chief. Of course ONI wants to bring Chief back but I don’t know if they would sent an ONI spartan to find him because they know that Chief would have seen him as a threat and at the end they would have come into a fight. So they will probably sent someone find Chief and bring him back but it will be ONI troopers or something like that and not another spartan so Chief wont think that they went there to fight him.( except they really want to kill him so another spartan would be perfect)

I believe that this new ONI spartan will be going after Jul 'Mdama and Halsey because they have half of the Janus Key and also because Halsey is a big threat to ONI and generally to the UNSC and as we saw at Halo 4 Spartan Ops they really want her dead.

So now Master Chief wants to save Halsey I guess because he thinks she can bring back Cortana and here is when Master Chief will fight the ONI spartan at the planet Sanghelios. And that’s also why Chief is disguised because the UNSC will be there already with the Arbiter and he doesn’t want someone to see him until he rescues Halsey.

Finally, after all this ONI will send it’s spartan to kill Chief and Halsey.

Escalation Issue 3 states that no one has seen the Master Chief in seven months, and issue’s 8 through 10 tells the story of where he went after Halo 4.

No one thinks that he betrayed the UNSC and will become and antagonist. What people think is that he left the UNSC to seek out his own intentions, such as awakening Mendicat Bias on the Ark.

Complete agree. I have a feeling that Chief is looking for a way to recover or reclaim Cortana to help decipher the key that was obtained in Halo 4’s Spartan Ops. And I’m guessing that based on the cloaked appearance he is sneaking through hostile territory to accomplish his mission.

I think that the Chief is evolving into a free-thinker.

Whereas ONI/UNSC are becoming more and more insular. The Mantle requires one to act in the greater good. ONI is concerned with the good of the Earth government.

I think that we have crossed a point where the Chief’s perspective and that of ONI/UNSC do not match.

Whether we call that going rogue is up in the air…

Until more details are given, I’m kind of imagining the ONI Spartan as a figure sort of like Kruger in Elysium. He’s tasked by ONI to hunt down Master Chief, who seems to have jumped ship from the UNSC in order to go on his own journey of sorts.

That would be a interesting plot twist but that would ruin the feel of Halo’s story

I honestly want them to be villains. Humans would be a cool enemy type to introduce.

I like this idea, OP. Reminds me of Bioshock in a good way. An ever present threat of a boss fight.

343i has also stated that the Chief is questioning a lot of what he thought and believed. He is discovering his humanity, and that may push him outside the control of the UNSC.
