From what I understand, some playlist have CSR based on your individual performance and some have it based on your team. I have been playing SWAT quite a bit recently and I now have no understanding of how it works.
After every single one of these matches, my CSR has not moved from 38. This makes absolutely no sense to me and was wondering if I could get an explanation as to how it works?
SWAT is an individually-ranked playlist, which means players are sorted by their score alone, regardless of K/D or win/loss. In order to rank up, you must consistently score higher than players who are your rank or higher without scoring lower than players who are ranked lower than you.
This can be very difficult because Halo 4 doesn’t tend to match you with players of similar rank, and so many games may not present you with an opportunity to rank up no matter how well you do. You can view the CSRs of the players you’ve played against by going to your Game History. When I looked at your last five games, I saw that the highest CSR you played with was a 24–well below your 38. Of course you’re not going to rank up by defeating players ranked that much lower than you.
I also saw that several lower-ranked players were with you for multiple games. Were you in a party with them? The game may have matched you with lower-ranked players because your teammates had low ranks. If you want to get matched with players who are close to your rank, you should search either alone or with other players who are close to your rank.
As far as I’m concerned, CSR doesn’t work. CSR would work if a playlist has a large population and good matching system. Unfortunately when it comes to SWAT especially, you feel like you are the only player that has an IQ above that of a dog and regularly match teams of guests. Obviously to rank up you need to beat players of higher ranks.
In a larger population you could argue it works. However if you take a look at the amount of people with 50s, you may want to reconsider. If you started on a fresh account, you could probably achieve a 50 in under 20 games. I myself have a 47 after about 12 games. The poor matching system will almost guarantee you are matched with a couple of 50s regardless of the rank. This makes easy ranking.
I mean I was playing BTB for the first time in months the other week and we ran into a team with two or three 50s. These players were average at best. I mean some of the people with 50s in BTB I wouldn’t even consider good players. Most got there through the broken matching system and cheap tactics Infinity settings allow you to pull off.
I myself am a 50 in Snipes. It took me about 30 games. I had a 50 in SWAT (I am a far better SWAT player than I am Snipers player) which took me about 200 games to get. I never moved despite finishing first with well over 25 kills each game. For whatever reason I am now a 49. i have played games recently but in both them games I finished top by a large margin. I think that speaks for itself.
I see, well thanks for the explanation guys. It does seem like the system is a bit broken but oh well. I really hope Halo 5 comes with a proper ranking system which is visible in game as I feel that’s part of the reason halo 4 is so empty at the moment despite actually being a pretty good game.
Swat is one of the playlists that is broken i would win and get most points 10 games in a row and somehow double derank for some reason i got my 50 after a couple hundred games if you get your 50 in it don’t play it unless your a diehard swat player.
Most of what was said in this thread is correct, there is just one thing I would like to amend that was said. Halo 4 does try to match you up by rank but in playlists that do not have a sufficient population you are going to see an increased CSR spread, if this did not happen you would be stuck searching for a game for quite a while. If you enter a game with people who are much higher than you in CSR and do well you will move up slightly faster and conversely if you are the high level player stomping on pleebs you will not move up very fast at all.
Go to the homepage for halotracker and type your name into the CSR stats box on the homepage. This will show you what sort of CSR’s you matched up against in your last few games… This will help you to see what is going on and why your rank reacted the way that it did according to your last fist full of games.
