Regardless if I’m playing campaign or multiplayer, I found I rarely even consider using the Plasma Pistol. Additionally, the charge shot doesn’t seem to hone in as effectively as I’d like. Do you use it often? If so, do you have tips to use it more effectively?
I’m positive that if there were viewable stats available for every weapon, you would see that I use the plasma pistol the least out of any other weapon in this game.
As for a tip, it’s a simple one, aim for the head. Charge a shot and drop the shields, charge a second shot and hit them in the head. The homing mechanic is wonky so you’ll need to lead your shots off as well.

Sandbox is to fast for it to fill its former role.
Unless they add increased swapping speed with it.
I hardly see it in mutliplayer so not often outside of Fiesta.
I use the plasma pistol only if im out of ammo with every other gun. If it had back his EMP feature, then i would use it very often.
I only pick it up when I’m bored.
That sounds like the most inefficient way to use it.
I mean you can charge one shot and then pew, pew, pew for the headshot but two consecutive charges can get the job done faster.
lol when i spawn with it in fiesta because thats the only time ill get caught with that garbage, nobody picks it up on purpose.
I never touch it. I really only play BTB and Ranked and it doesn’t show up much in either…and isn’t worth using in either
Usually as a rapid burst weapon, drop and BR finish.
When I used to play, (Xbox broken, it’s a cat thing) I would use it almost every game at least once. I gotten really good with it and fond some good combos with it.
I use it whenever I feel like losing my next fight.
It’s a compelling choice if you want to switch out a starter for something dedicated to shredding shields, but otherwise a logical fallacy of a choice.
Only reason I would choose it over the plasma carbine is due to the carbine’s fickle nature.
I use it almost everytime i pass it in ranked. So a good amount.
I used it for assist kill objectives
I ditch that thing as soon as it gets forced into my hands in Fiesta. I never pick one up on purpose unless it’s the absolute last thing around with ammo in it. The charge shot homes? news to me. ![]()
PP stopped being viable in Campaign since they introduced the Dynamo grenade which is much better + it stuns the Shielded target + it’s AoE + it blows up any fusion coils nearby. The downside is probably that the Dynamo is far and few between in the later missions, but you can always replenish at outposts before a mission.
Electric damage type as a whole has utterly robbed Plasma Weapons of its previous utility, so I think they need to rebalance Plasma damage to fill another role in the sandbox.
I’m thinking bonus vehicular damage, which will make Plasma Grenades destroy any small to hog sized vehicles with a good stick, and allow PP and Pulse to do decent damage to that annoying Warthog driving circles around your spawn.
Another buff PP could use is having 4 shot shield break back. By doing this, it ups the lethality of a PP because you can 4 shot > overcharge homing headshot. This is balanced by the fact that if you wiff this combo, your weapon is now overheating and you’re open to retaliation.
I never use it in social games. But On my H.I. custom modes I set the max health to 70% why? So the crappy weapons can kill people.
