I am thinking on investing on a scuff gaming controller but I have my doubts if it is something that will really improve my gameplay at Halo 5.
Anyone can tell me their experience before spending the $$$?

You will not improve for a week or so until you get used to the scuffs. I have the Elite controller and I can say that it improved my gameplay, especially since remapped Jump and Thrust to scuffs.
I’d say a scuff or Elite will improve your gameplay significantly. If nothing else because of the button remapping to back paddles. That will allow you to not have to remove your thumbs from the sticks in order to perform certain tasks (depending your particular button layout). You’ll also have better responsiveness with the sticks themselves. All in all, a Scuf (and probably an Elite as well) is a very good investment for a FPS.

I second this ^^^^^. Your brain need to adapt to the new control scheme. I bought a Elite controller 2 weeks ago and I’m still getting use to it. My evasive techniques are better, but I do choke sometimes because I’m not completely use to the paddle so I start hitting every damn button possible
The hairpin trigger on my elite controller is very useful for FPS, especially when shooting a semi-auto, like a lot of the weapons in Halo. Just a word of advice, practice adding paddles one at a time before you jump into a game with all 4 paddles on the back. It can get a little overwhelming, (especially for someone like me who did not own a N64 growing up, I’ve never had to use a controller with buttons on the back end.)
Well, I think it really depends. If you are a good player already and can fully utilize the capabilities of the controller, then you should see a nice bump inn your gameplay. Being able to keep your thumbs on the sticks and fingers on the triggers while accessing abilities (thrust, et al) can have a major impact on your play. But, like others have said, it will take time for you to retrain your brain on button/paddle locations and being able to incorporate them smoothly into your gameplay. I recommend doing campaign for a bit to initially before heading back into matchmaking.
I haven’t regretted buying the Elite at all. It’s a solid piece of equipment and has made the difference in close encounters.
