Title says everything. I want to know the number of cruisers The Covenant posses during the time of the Human-Pre-Covenant War. Oblivious in the thousands. But the number had to be incredible big to win against The Unsc. Ideas of how much ships?
Well they had a fleet of hundreds attacking Reach and a planned fleet of about 500 ships that were to attack Earth that the Chief managed to defeat (First Strike). So we’re looking at around a thousand, minimum. If memory serves, before the Great Schism, they had a fleet numbering in the thousands but after, that number is greatly diminished and I doubt they have anywhere near that many ships now.

add in the war with the brutes, and the civil war now
maybe only a few hundred left
Don’t forget the Kig-Yar pirates, the Covenant Remnant lead by Jul, and as mentioned above, the war against the rebelling Brutes.
Most seen in halo 4 are 300 meters long.
In Glasslands and the Thursday War, most Elites were almost out of large ships.
As many as the plot demands.

Not really, most of the EU clearly states that the UNSC got their hats handed to them when it came to space fights, typically with the UNSC normally out numbering the Covenant and barely, if ever, winning.

Eh, not really, the whole losses throughout the Human-Covenant War barely even put a scratch on the Covenant’s military. Especially considering that Truth viewed the destruction of Unyielding Hierophant and its fleet of over 500 ships as nothing more than a minor setback at worst. Everyone always seems to forget the size of the Covenant Empire, they ruled and controlled practically all of the Orion Arm of the galaxy, the amount of ships needed to maintain, protect, and police such a massive amount of space would be almost uncountable.

You mean the books written by an author who has almost no comprehension of the series she’s writing for and did absolutely no proper research into the series before writing? That is one of the many, many, many, innumerable problems with Travissty’s works with Halo and one of the reasons why they should just be scrapped and completely ignored.

Ignoring them doesn’t change the fact that they’re canon. As bad as Traviss and her work may be, that fact doesn’t change.
There weren’t that many ships in-game actually The most we see is during “Infinity” which was like 8-9. After that You see less and less CCS and more lichs.
Is there a definitive resource on the actual size of the Covenant?
No. Even though the name “storm” isn’t really canon i think we need to start dubbing jul’s forces as such instead of “The covenant”. IT’s getting confusing.

I agree, that’s the whole reason I call them that, or refer to them as “Jul and his cronies” or some variation on that, because even if they wanted to be, they’re really not the Covenant. So yeah, I think they should be referred to as “the Storm” or “Storm Covenant” to set them apart.
That’s like asking how many warships the United States has at their disposal… Lol.
Just know that they had MANY (:P) ships. The Covenant did, after all, have an unfathomable population… Trumping humanity with numbers alone. Just imagine that they’d need a significantly superior amount of ships in order to house that many troops. lol.

I thought those were meant to be CRS-Class Cruisers instead of the CCS?

You are correct.

Not to troll… but it is actually pretty easy to find out how many ships the USA can deploy…
This
And it should be easy to get an idea of how many ships the covenant had in total. While they likely were constantly building new ones, if someone just added up all listed ships destroyed during the course of the war… you would get a general idea of their capability.

That only tells you how much they lost…that gives no indications of how many ships or fleets there are in total. It’s a good start, but it’s just not anywhere near enough to actually figure out the exact number of ships…what counting up the losses (or at least some of the losses) does tell us is that the worst losses the Covenant ever experienced, the Battle of Reach and Operation First Strike following that up, were only considered tiny annoyances and minor setbacks at worst, and those battles both involved close to over 300 ships at minimum.
