I just saw a video on Youtube on forge for Halo Infinite under multiplayer it if you select Forge there is a button that sez: “BUY”. Does anybody know how much Forge is going to cost to buy forge?
If it costs anything more then $0 the remaining population is going to plummet fast.
Agreed, only thing keeping me in is the addition of forge.
If I have to either
- pay to use it
- have Xbox Live to use it
- buy pieces/scripts to use within it
Then I’m out of Halo for good as soon as they announce it, it’s the principal, I’ll even scrap the Xbox and get PS or upgrade my PC. If they had any decency they’d confirm or deny it now. @Unyshek @ske7ch next update??
Halo is the only reason I have an Xbox so it’ll be an easy decision.
Why would they charge for it, it’s what creators use to build FOR them. Over half of their H5 content was built by forgers - all of BTB, all of Action Sack, >90% of everything within customs.
It’ll be the final kick in the teeth. I realise it takes a lot of time and money to build it but it should have been at launch subsidised by game sales and your stupid microtransactions, not creators!
Do you happen to have a link of the video or remember who made it?
The only way I’ll tolerate a pay wall is if it requires game pass/campaign purchase, even then I don’t think it is a good idea. If 343 requires a separate purchase then it will take the crown as worst decision by 343, which is saying something.

From the way 343 has talked about Forge, it sounds like it’s coming out for free, whenever they finish creating it.
Forge is months away, I wouldn’t believe anything you see online unless it’s directly from 343i themselves.
I find it extremely unlikely that Forge we be something players would have to buy.
If this is true that we have to pay for the forge world, 343 will have shown there is no limits to their selfishness.
Personally, I hope 343 isn’t this far gone because if they are, they will lose a hell of a lot more of the player base, and there will be no real reason to play such a broken game that barley has any content.
No link, no proof.
Most likely either going to be free tied to multiplayer or tied to the ownership of campaign in some way based on the description of the available editions.

Agree to both.
I think “if” it’s marked with a buy-label, it’s probably linked to the campaign/full-price-game-owenership (or Game Pass).
Otherwise, it would be criminal if I had to pay to create content which a 3rd party uses to make profit again.
I agree 100% It just kinda freaked my out that when you select multiplayer/forge/ it said “BUY”. Ok now
look like forge is really going to be a little more complicated then past Halo Game forges. There are so many menus for so many different things it will blow your mind! Just goto Youtube and search for → Halo Infinite Forge. There are alot of videos on Forge. They may not so everything in Forge but you “WILL” see alot of stuff in Forge Check it out!!
Check this out just for fun!!

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they made you buy the Battflepass to get access to it.
343 already basically admitted they’re working with Certain Affinity and plan to take user made content and rehash it for matchmaking in Infinite. The first on their list is they will release Sharks and Minnows rehashed as “Tatanka”, but they will later be taking user made maps and game modes for matchmaking, according to multiple news sites. They will also likely shamelessly charge you to make content for them. A mod locked my topic on this a while back, which basically confirms it’s true. Expect to be microtransactioned for Forge, and have your hard work used to substitute 343 making their own maps and content.
If they charge for forge, in any capacity, then that would be the final nail in the coffin for most people.
They might have gotten away with it if the game’s launch wasn’t so bad and everything was delayed. They do that, then they prove that Infinite cares more about taking your money than actually being a content complete game.
My money is on it being including in the price of whichever season’s BP it launches alongside with,
You know how in the campaign The Weapon mentions that the Ring is being rebuilt by a system? Yea. There’s a lore implication right there for Forge. They’re definitely gonna monetize it. I’m just here to see Infinite burn.
Halo Infinite is a F2P game that officialy has a 10 years plan. The shop and battlepasses alone will not bring enough money on the long-term run, because most of the players, except the whales, will be satisfied with the things they already bought. It might become too expensive for most people over months/a few years. (Servers and 750 employees cost money; 68,1 bil $ for Activision/Blizzard, too)
So how can you monetize the game over a long time? In my opinion, forge is the easiest and most efficient way to monetize Halo over the next years. It can be a monthly payment with full usage or you have to pay for every element with microtransactions.
it simply seems more logical than unreasonable for me to monetize forge. It is not enough to use it as free marketing tool only.
I’d assume that it’ll be free for those who purchased the campaign, and a paid feature for those who are MP only, but even that could be totally wrong. I’d hold off any reaction until you see something from 343 directly, these boards are saturated in enough drama as it is.
I cannot imagine any scenario where Forge would generate close to the amount of money that cosmetics would. Forge is a niche (yet extremely valuable) mode for Halo, this isn’t something that say 80% of the playerbase would be interested in buying or paying money for, so you’d see a total of like maybe 10k people that would actually buy it and another huge issue with that is that now you have a mode that has few users so things like bugfixing/features become far more difficult so it would just screw over the diehard forgers out there I imagine.
The argument that a F2P game with paid cosmetics isn’t going to make enough profit is laughable, I seriously wonder how people think any of the top F2P games right now (Fortnite, Apex, Warzone, etc.) make any money?
Even assuming what you said is true (its not, because you use bad logic like saying that 343i needs to fund Activision? What? They can fund themselves for all I care lol) free advertising and dramatically increasing replayability long term is a proven method for adding value and contributing to sales. By this logic, mod support for Skyrim was a stupid idea lol, now to be fair Forge is nowhere near as advanced as real bonafide mod support is but it is hard to imagine Halo 3/Reach or even 4/5 being remotely as valuable without Forge.
