Doubt it will be a step backwards, but it will hardly be a step forwards. A map thrown into each of the sparse map pools wonât make much variety difference, and a new battlepass wonât really bring that many players in.
But now that they are allowing Halo fans in their hiring, things are looking to turn around.
Shame that Halo Infinite had a few things meddling with development and that it is in the current state it is in right now. Hopefully it pulls off a Fallout New Vegas and gets fixed.
I do have a lot of faith in 343 Industries do to Halo Infinite being an extremely good Halo game at a core level with a highly replayable campaign. The main issues that exist with the game sre instead minior and related to the PvP multiplayer portion of this game which in turn means that Iâm relatively unaffected by these issues. This is mainly due to me being primarily being an offline campaign player and not a PvP player.
On the other hand, it should be noted that I have been unable to play Halo Infinite or any other console game since the middle of January due to real life issues. This has been done completely independently from which state that Halo Infinite is at.
But what is the minimum they need to get back on track? Or more importantly to get the fans back on track.
I agree that 2 maps is an undersell. Especially given Season 1 was essentially a two parter.
Surely it wouldnât be too hard to bring a couple of maps from Halo 5 across. Even if just for arena / slayer.
They need to show some improvement on the desync issues. Even if just the inconsistent hammer and rocket splash. I know that melee probably runs a bit deeper (with the collisions) - but at least show they have made some progress.
A UI update to fix the shop (allow more items / options) and add an XP rank is super important. Everyone is worried that these things canât be done easily. And I know itâs a big job - but everyone will be a lot more relaxed going forward knowing change can happen.
Fix the God--Yoink!- challenges. There are lots of thread with great ideas - and 343 should be on top of the issues. Make sure they are all player-centric (we shouldnât rely on what other players are doing) and far less playlist-specific. And donât include any which make people play against the objective of the game.
And they need to push campaign co-op and Forge hard. I know neither are going to be there on day 1 (and Forge is actually Season 3) - but show off a trailer saying they are coming. And it would be awesome if they could announce a Season 2 flight for Forge. But just use the opportunity / attention Season 2 will bring to hype these up.
Itâs just been back to back to back disappointment,
343i doesnât listen to the community at all.
They have their hearts set on a Live Service game that they donât have the staff of infrastructure to maintain.
Just long periods of radio silence and Store update announcements.
What 343i? you canât afford community managers? yet a Tiny Studio Called Bungie back in the day could?
Im sorry but that is thee most unconvincing excuse.
343i has no respect for the people who have held up the franchise for the last Decade and a HalfâŚ
They are incapable of making Halo in the same way Bungie did.
Got an upgraded internet connection because this game was slow. This game is still slow. Currently, âThere was a problem with the dedicated serverâ for all game modes for the last hour. Also, why the hell do I have to play teams of pc players clicking on my face with their curser while trying to play a console game on my Xbox console???
Porting maps? Improving desync? Balancing challenges? All things that wouldnât have been too hard to do or at least mention during season 1. Truth is 343 is a mess right now and we have no idea how long any serious changes will take or what to expect beyond the maps and new paid cosmetics in season 2.
How can anyone have faith at this point? Halo Infinite spent far longer in development than any other Halo game only to deliver far less than any other Halo game. Thereâs no faith at this point, only the facts.
I mean look at games like Fortnite or Cod MW. Tons of large amounts of content all the time. This issue is due to the lack of experience from the devs it seems like. A year delay to not release an unfinished game is hugely generous from management and a year is an incredibly long time for a product that had as long as Halo Infinite had.
Gears of War, one Microsofts other flagship franchises which is also an arena shooter has released so much content on each game that has ever come out. Itâs ashame 343 canât keep up with The Coalition because Halo is frankly a much more loved franchise.
