In the PAX footage I believe there were only about 2 skins per weapon shown. Is this it? It doesn’t seem like very many, but I’m wondering if there’s been mention of there being more than 2 or 3 per weapon.
Hopefully more, but I would be happy not to have as many as other games, I’m a big Gears fan but the amount of skins was insane.
What we saw in the PAX build is what we’re getting. Non-starting weapons do not have skins.

some power weapons will have skins.
Also in forge can we place down already skined weapons or is it when a person with that skin picks up a regular AR it becomes that skin.
Hmm, it’s just a shame all we’ll have to use is some orange stripes on the BR/DMR/Carbine.

No they won’t.

I don’t think so. I think that only applies to the armour. We don’t know anything about there being more weapon skins. We’ll just have to either wait for more news on that, or until the game comes out.
If we don’t have at least 5 solid color skins for weapons, and 5 skins that are default for all armor pieces, then the entire idea of skins is just a pointless gimmick.

I find myself agreeing with you, especially about the solid colour skins for the weapons, especially the Covenant ones. From what I’ve seen, we either need to pick between the default skins for weapons, or skins that are rather distracting and ugly. Why can’t they just give us a black BR to resemble the Halo 2/3 version? Or a green Carbine? Perhaps a red Plasma Pistol?
I would love to see some visual variety, but I’m not really into the idea of using a Plasma Pistol with blue blotches all over it, or an Assault Rifle covered in blue lines. Of course, I know I don’t need to use the skins, but it would be nice to have some options asides from the default skins that actually look nice and clean.
I really dislike the idea that skins need to look like somebody took the weapon and chucked a can of paint at it or took a paintbrush, closed their eyes, and scribbled all over it. Why not give us something simple yet effective?

Skins are a gimmick either way IMO.
They don’t impact gameplay at all. I’d rather have 2-3 each and more time spent on the game than a billion options like Gears.
A little OT: So in Multiplayer, if i pick up a weapon from a dead guy, if he had a special skin, is it on that weapon? or will it go to default/whatever skin i have?
One skin per loadout weapon. Only exception are the Arctic BR skin, which is Pre-order only, and the Assault Rifle Prime skin, which comes with LE. The strom rifle doesn’t have a skin though.
Primary:
- Assault Rifle
- Assault Rifle (Predator)
- Assault Rifle (Prime) Limited Edition
- Battle Rifle
- Battle Rifle (Dunes)
- Battle Rifle (Arctic) Pre-order
- DMR
- DMR (Noble)
- Storm Rifle
- Covenant Carbine
- Covenant Carbine (Reign)
- Suppressor
- Suppressor (Shatter)
- Light Rifle
- Light Rifle (Imprint)
Secondary:
- Magnum
- Magnum (Static)
- Plasma Pistol
- Plasma Pistol (Fracture)
- Boltshot
- Boltshot (Piston)
So to directly answer OPs question, there are a total of 11 skins.

Dat day one skin dlc!!! Holy cow lmao.

You will be picking up his skinned weapon. Weapon skins are treated as different weapon selections.

The Light Rifle skin is exclusive to the Limited Edition console.

Is it? I must have missed that. I thought the console just came with the avatar gear and FOTUS.
Edit:
Halo 4 LE Console
