Of course this post is tailored to a particular set of players with no judgment to anyone else but I’m curious on how you guys felt when you’ve hit Onyx and how many time have you gotten an Onyx Rank?
I’ve hit the Onyx Rank 4 times since seasons started in January
Also For the people who have not been able to reach the Onyx Rank do you feel like its an accomplishment to work to at least get once or is not worth it?

I’ve reached Onyx in Swat (placed 1700) and FFA (of course, because as
Long as you don’t get last you’ll gain CSR and eventually hit Onyx). Currently working on Onyx in Slayer and/or Team Arena
depends if u have a team or not. I often search alone, so I’m basically restricted to ffa regarding meaningful ranks. Problem is if u’re not american ffa has way too less players to even consider it. In fact I’m glad if I get a low rank because then I can find matches faster. So at the end of the day I don’t give a -Yoink- about ranks.

I’ve only gotten it in slayer but I’ve had friends get it in swat and I don’t understand how lol

In Swat, I won 9/10 placement games. I was “lucky enough” to have to play against Onyx/Champs in all of them. In a nutshell, your placement is based from who you play and how many of those you won. Win 10/10 against silver/gold, you’ll probably place in high gold or plat1 if you’re lucky. Lose 7/10 games against Champs/high onyx, you’ll probably still place somewhere in diamond.
How do you get to play against higher ranks in placement? : Queue with people already ranked high, win enough games against better players to fix your MMR for the next season, or simply get lucky. It also helps to wait a day or two after reset, you have a better chance of playing ranked players rather than unranked ones.

yeah H5 is weirdly designed… you need that team play to win games. I play with a team anytime I go in so if you want a team to play with you can add me.
I almost had it when I had a team; I settled at Diamond 5.
Well my Spartan is an S-III who got dumped out of a Pelican a couple of times so…five, six? Does falling out of a tree count?
I kid. I’ve gotten it once. Back when it was super easy to get it.
Honestly, I haven’t kept track. I do think it’s an accomplishment though, and a worthwhile goal for someone trying to improve. I mean when I started back into halo after a 3+ year hiatus, I was gold/plat. My goal was to constantly improve and I’m pretty proud of the onyxes I’ve made.

lol that was funny! and yeah idk what happen but it feels like they added a few more wins in between each tier now

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. Used to take 4-5 wins in a row, now it takes 5-6

I usually hit Onyx In every playlist during a season playing solo. The only time I actually get lower then that Is when I play with my friends In a full team. I know this sounds like It should be the other way around, but whenever I play with them. We get so low ranked people because of there skill lever that the game will put me Into Diamond Instead of Onyx. Also wanna throw out that I have never been ranked below Diamond, and have held Champion rank at some point In Swat, Slayer, Breakout, (Team Snipers when It was ranked), Rumble Rockets, And Free For All which I got my highest ranking In the game. I was Champion 7. The only reason I don’t hold Champion at the end of a season Is I don’t usually play any of the ranked playlist after I complete my placement matches. I usually am always playing either Warzone, BTB, or Infection.
Overall It doesn’t feel like any real accomplishment to me. Definitely In game types like FFA where you can lose all ten placement matches, and still get Onyx. It seems like the only game type In my opinion where you should feel good about having Onyx rank Is Team Arena. Even more so If your a Champion In It.
