There is no accuerate amount of how many gamma company spartans are left after the onyx conflict. And there is no number of how many CAT II spartans there are either.
My estimate guess is roughly around 370 remaining SPARTAN-III’S remaining.
There were 330 graduated Gammas as of the Battle of Onyx. I think there were ~12 on Onyx, with Dante and Holly perishing during the fighting there, leaving Mark, Olivia and Ash the only survivors, plus the ones in the slip-pods.
So thats…328, give or take.
Then we have Tom, Lucy, Owen and the other III from Outpost Discovery, so thats 332. Plus the one from the short story in fractures, the Alpha Company member, thats 333

Thats about all the confirmed ones. 370s a bit high, IMO, but reasonable.

I did think lower that my estimated guess. I figured there would still be a small handful cor the CAT II class left from the human covenant war.
Before the Battle of Onyx, there was 17 Spartan-IIIs on Onyx (including Tom and Lucy) because each Gamma Fireteam was comprised of 5 Spartans.
Team Gladius were KIA before the fighting broke out, Team Katana were put in suspension pods (but we’re unsure if they did survive but I’d argue it’s safe to assume they did), and then we have Team Saber comprised Ash, Mark, Olivia, Dante, and Holly, and you already say how Dante and Holly die, so that leave us with 8 survivors from the Battle, then with the addition of Tom and Lucy bringing it up to 10.
Mark does die in the most recent book covering the Ferets unfortunately, but the other 9 from the Battle of Onyx are still alive up to this day in Halo. Everything else you said in your post is accurate from my knowledge, I just thought I’d explain the little hiccup on your part and give clarification.
To tackle the question of how many Spartan-IIIs are alive, well that’s difficult, even given what we do know. This is because Spartan-IIIs were also used in the Headhunter program, which during the war always kept a roster of 17 active Spartan-IIIs (assuming they refilled the roster of those who were KIA when a new Spartan-III Company was trained). Another question is if any who were pulled from the Headhunter program for other Operations survived, as I mean Jun used to be a Headhunter before being reassigned. That’s not all, we also need to consider “Cat-2” Spartan-IIIs but we know very little about them. The only thing which hasn’t been discussed here is an offhand comment from Jun mentioning Spartan-III Gauntlet, Red and Echo Teams who were assigned to Civilian Evac Ops prior to the New Alexandria glassing, (and due to the mention of Civilian Evac Ops from Jun and confirmation from Grim during a Canon Fodder Q&A we know the Red Team in question isn’t the Spartan-II Red Team who were also active during the Fall of Reach), but we don’t know how many of those Spartans survived, if they did even survive because Reach was a very costly battle, for both sides.
With that being said, I like the ambiguity to it as it allows for us in the community to create our own OC Spartan-IIIs and fit them into the existing canon, and even make up own headcanon battles too
