Title says it all, how many Shield Worlds do you think the Forerunners constructed in the Milky Way? Also, how Forerunners do you think were in each Shield World?
Well, I’m guessing there are either 12 Shield Worlds, the same ratio of the original Halo Array (as mentioned in Cryptum) or 7 simply because that number is Bungie/343i’s lucky number.
I don’t expect that these installations have Forerunner in them, considering Mendicant Bias found them and led the Flood to commandeer them before the Forerunner could finish them.
On page 273 of Cryptum, Bornstellar states ‘Thus my father and the Master Builder began to design a series of installations, far fewer in number than the proposed Shield Worlds - what would become the Halos.’
While we don’t know how many actually got completed, it sounds like they had originally planned to make a lot more than just 12 shield worlds.
the halowars shield world was number 459 and the one in glasslands was like 600 something but wasn’t finished.

Were not the Shield Worlds the Librarian’s idea? The one that was unfortunately incomplete?

It was the Didacts.
Can’t say for sure. For all we know some of them could’ve been destroyed during the Forerunner-Flood War. If you think about it, they would be a great trap. Each one has an artificial sun, lure the Flood into one and BOOM, Floody BBQ.
