How many players online will Halo 5 support?

/(How many players do you lot want for eg custom game and big team battle)

Max: 16 for past Halos

Do you think they will allow for more players?

I think 16 should be the max for matchmaking, but I think Custom game lobbies should allow for up to 20.

Those who are lagging up the game can be booted by the party leader.

Max: 32

32 is a good number but so is 34. I would love to see Big Team Battle hold this number. Map sizes will get bigger anyway on next gen hardware so why not take advantage of this? Dedicated servers will handle it and 343 have hinted of this.

BTB with 32 players would be amazing.

If we’re getting a playlist with 32 players, I hope that they’ll still keep a playlist with max 16 player.

> If we’re getting a playlist with 32 players, I hope that they’ll still keep a playlist with max 16 player.

BTB= 8 players

(Whatever name you wish)= 16 players

16 players on both teams (32). I would seriously never stop playing that playlist.

Dice said that they experimented with 128 players for bf4! and that it just wasn’t fun with that many players (well at least for those maps sizes). I don’t know whether that’s just for PCs, but I think that with ded. servers and next-gen stuff, that the consoles will be able to handle it too?

Besides that, bf4 is leading anyway with 64 players (+2 Commanders) for next-gen console.

I think that this would be too big of a step for 343 all at once, but they should definitely aim for this for say, halo 6. I want 32 players minimum, that shouldn’t be a problem.

32.

I like to see an evolved version of Invasion and Dominion designed around 32 players.

Halo current matchmaking playlist will still remain, your just adding another 2. Maybe a possible 3rd with BTB Mayhem.

I agree, I have always wanted to see a Halo Battlefield game with 64/128 players.
With very large maps and drivable Scarabs/Mamoths.

But must admit that this is way too big a jump. To go from 16 to 64/128.

I think 32 players would be sweet. And evolve Invasion and Dominion to work with this player count.

If you think about it, Invasion and Dominion are the same as BF Rush and Conquest.

So we know that these 2 playlist would suit a high player count and play very well. We don’t need to have hugh maps like BF.

Just smarter maps. H2 Waterworks and Containment would work well with 32 players. And H3 Sand Trap and Avalance would also suit 32 players. HR Spire, Boneyard, Breakpoint, Highlands and some of the Forge World maps would suit 32 players. And H4 has a couple that would work. So we don’t need extremely large maps for 32 players. Just smartly designed maps.

Does anyone know what sort of bot count we can expect for like firefight?

I wouldn’t mind the large numbers, as long as the connection smooth, there’s a large amount of vehicles and such. I say 32 max. Plus it be good for clan meetings when you have a lot of people.

> Does anyone know what sort of bot count we can expect for like firefight?

Reach could support 40 AI and 20 vehicles, so I guess you could expect that to double. Still, everything is speculation.

My exact answer.

32 just seems too big for Halo.

I’ve never got this argument before, maybe you could enlighten me.

‘too big for Halo’ is a statement that goes against the grain. Too big for a halo multiplayer? I don’t know if you’ve played big multiplayers but in bigger maps, the player count easily diminishes before your eyes and you are no longer able to tell that there’s X amount of players in a game. Bigger player counts allow for bigger maps and visa versa, now this may not appeal to all people, but if 343 are going to make big team battle for those who want to play BTB, shouldn’t it be big?

Maybe you meant that big just doesn’t seem very halo like to the core? or something. Then there’s still a huge flaw in your argument. What makes halo iconic and memorable is the campaign side of the game, and you’ll forgive me when i say i’m pretty sure there are a ton of open big battles in the campaign. I’m pretty sure that most of the missions are wide open playable spaces with many AI populating it. It fits well with halo.

I can understand someone rejecting an idea if its an either/or where if you make a choice to move forward, you’re leaving what you left behind, but HOW can you loose out at all with allowing for certain gametypes/playlists to cater for larger groups?

Going up to 32 players may be okay. I don’t think it can actually hurt halo 5 lol. I haven’t really seen any games successfully do larger match sizes. They end up just being clustered chaos, which can be entertaining for a bit, but not fun in the long run.

MAX 16

If they move to 32, Halo as we know it will become crap. They would have to remove the entire aspect of arena shooting from the game. Maps would become even larger then they already are and sprint would be required.

If I hear anything about 16 vs 16, Halo 5 will not even be considered as a purchased game. 16vs16 = horrible core-gameplay.

I can’t stand Battlefield and that’s all it would become.

Sir, your opinion is bad and you should feel bad.

16v16 seems fine for Halo. There will always be default slayer and other game modes if people don’t enjoy 32 players.
