I haven’t played reach seriously in years but in my experience its way, way less common than in Halo 3. I think the engine and limited jump height is the primary cause. The thing that made ninja popular was the jump height in Halo 3 but Bungie significantly reduced that for Reach. Now I’m not saying ninja never happens in Reach, because it certainly does, but from my experience (when Reach was at its peak) its not at all common.

People try alot but most of the time it fails. Ive learned in my expirences the only time it works is when you are running up on a incline and then jump back over the guy but then that still only gets not-so-good players.

“Ninja’s” are really annoying and unskillful. Sure, why don’t you run up to me and pummel me instead of using your gun. Brilliant.

I used to be one and do the occasional one from behind a wall to get the sword guy, but I’m not running around the map going negative just to get 5 or so ninjas per game

I am always a ninja no matter what.

When a ninja opportunity presents itself I always do.

I don’t always go ninja but when I do, I don’t suicide charge unless I know I’m about to die anyways (happens a bit from my aggressive tactics).

Of course, I haven’t played Reach for a while. I’ll try and start improving my service record soon…

After playing H4, it’s harder, considering you have no Thruster Pack

Some people here apparently are confused as to what a Ninja exactly is. It’s when you are running forward and being followed by someone who is trying to assassinate you. You then jump straight up and backwards a little, and look down. You melee when you are above and a little behind them, and you will assassinate them instead. So rewarding when you pull it off, but very difficult in reach due to the lower jump height.
