Just trying to see what kind of community we have for commendations in Halo 5.
What is your commendation progress vs your rank?
I wouldn’t say I am a farmer because I don’t really go out of my way to complete things unless I am really close to something, but I definitely keep a close eye on them and check it after every match. Now if only I could look at my medals after every match.
Commendations are a normal part of the game, we all collect them.
I am mainly working on weapon commendations right now and vehicles. I am 6/7 for Covie power weapons, 3/6 for forerunner power weapons, 4/7 unsc power weapons… as a primarily ffa commendations can be slow going.

Obviously it comes with playing the game. I believe the op is referring to players that for instance grind out 1 particular weapon or gametype until the have smashed it out as opposed to get them when ever.
I care about company commendations, as for personal commendations I never check them but I do enjoy when a req pack pops up, just today I got the Assassin Pack. Made me feel like a ninja

I obsessed over each of my weapon commendations until I finished them. Which is the type of person this post appeals to.
I’m a big commendation farmer, trying to get incineration cannon done as well as Binary Rifle. Unfortunately Binary Rifle is only found on BTB and is Ultra Rare and Incineration cannon is super annoying to use because you have to land both shots to kill someone.
I’ve almost got enemies done, however I can never get Warden done because either:
a) teammate gets the kill
b) Enemy gets the kill
c) Warden doesn’t even get a chance to show up
80% of the time its c). I don’t even know how I’m going to ever get it done

I got the Warden commendation using the SMG at last 1% of HP, or the ultra ghost.
Stormbreak: Hide behind boxes in the cave until 1% HP.
ARC: Hide behind the cliff tower until 1% HP.
Apex: I never consistently tried to kill warden on this map. You can do it, it’s just hard.
Noctus: I used the Ultra ghost and stayed under the foot bridge out of sight until 2-3% HP.
Noctus is your best friend when trying to finish the Warden commendation. And if you miss any shots on his last 1% HP, you’ll pretty much lose the kill. If you have any all-star aim, use it on warden. And always try to shoot him from behind when attempting a kill steal.
Binary rifle. I reached level 6 REQs as fast as I could in Warzone then camped like a giant wuss at the home base in Battle of Noctus. Look towards the enemy garage and wait for your chance. If you stand just inside the shield while scoped in, your scope beam wont go out across the map. When you’re ready to take a shot, you peak out of the shield and get your kill. Your beam only appears for a split second. Makes it look like a quick scope. Take number of kills needed divided by number of binary rifle REQs you have. Make that number your goal-per-REQ. Mine was 3 kills per REQ until later then it was like 1.5 kills per REQ.
Incineration cannon. I camped like a giant wuss in the west/east armories in all Warzone maps minus Noctus. I reached level 6 as fast as I could and then just stood in those armories and waited for enemies. It’s cheap as hell but it got the job done. If you wait long enough you can put on active camo and then roam slowly around the map and mess people up.
Combination of:
Being aware so I can grab whatever kill it is I need (Regular Boss v Legendary Boss v Soldier v Jackal v SMG v Boltshot etc) while I’m just playing the match in Warzone.
Then as I get close to either completing Level 3 (REQ pack!) or finishing Level 5 (The joy of victorious achievement! And a REQ pack), I’ll go out of my way looking for what I need…without abandoning my random teammates too much. But when I was chasing Legendary Bosses I didn’t worry too much about abandoning the team, because that kill was mutually beneficial. Chasing down grunts, however, felt a little silly. But I got that Commendation.

Yeah, Warden is the last one I need to get Forerunner Destroyer Mastery. Gonna take FOREVER…

I concur. Don’t farm but if I’m close and weapon need on map, go out of way to complete.
Of course, winning most important so if I feel focusing on me during match not doing well by team I refocus on match win and take another game or 2 to complete commendation.
I grow commendations in my field and then sell them at harvest.
I mostly farm on Weapon commendations, I like getting weapon mastery stuff like that.
